where to stay in sheboygan

going up to play Straits and River course but dont want to stay on property bc prices as a single golfer really suck. any advice on where to stay in the area? where to go eat? things to do other than golf?

Laquita inn & blue harbor resort are both fine, blue harbor would probably be fun with a bigger group as I think they have condo type places available.

We always eat breakfast at Harry’s Diner.

Legend Larry’s is popular for food/drinks. I honestly can’t remember names of the bars we’ve been to; had a few fuzzy nights. I’d ask the caddies or other staff at the courses. Some good info in other threads on here. Enjoy.

There is a fairly new GrandStay in town that is pretty nice. We priced the Holiday Inn Express and it was more expensive that staying in Kohler at Inn on the Woodlake!!!!!!!!!

 

As for restaurants, depends on what you want. There are two pizza joints in town that I always recommend...one is Fay's Pizza. It is really good pizza and there is a Ricky Fowler/Bubba Watson signed tshirt on the wall. Then there is a great little place that serves authentic Neapolitan style pizza that is awesome. It is called Il Retrovo. The restaurants at the golf courses are good (but a bit expensive). Also, Whistling Straits has an upstairs Pub that is a little cheaper and still very good. Others have recommended The Black Pig, but neither my wife or I really cared much for it. If over near Kohler and the American Club, The Horse and Plow is a really good bar/restaurant and would be nice for a nightly gathering spot if you have a few in your party.

Don't laugh but the Kohler Design Center is a great way to spend an hour or so. Some of the setups they have are amazing...and might inspire you to do some serious plumbing upgrades and your home.

I always recommend The Duke of Devon for a place to eat/drink.

If you want a traditional Wisconsin fish fry, Al & Al's is a great place and they also have some awesome traditional German food.
