I live at sea level on the Texas coast (elevation is listed as 34 feet). My longest drive (verified by gps, not scorecard math) was 388 yards. It was dry as it usually is here during the summer, and had about a 10mph breeze at my back. Most people don’t believe me, which is understandable if you saw me play golf now, but I used to average about 310 off the tee. I was also playing 4-5 rounds a week and at the range 2-3 times, playing on an amateur tour, and basically lived at the course to get away from the house. I’ve since had 2 back surgeries, play 2-3 rounds per month and never go to the range except to warm up before a round, and if I hit one longer than 270 now, I had some help. 270-280 used to be a stock 3 wood off the tee for me. I probably average about 250 with the driver now. I hate it.

It was over 400 yards, dont remember exactly. 500+ yard par 5 and my drive landed on the 250 yard stone on the fly, kicking straight forward

I think this thread is just meant to foment our frustration knowing that we are capable of so much more when things go right versus what we do 99% of the time.

I started out in golf with a terrible slice last year. Once I straightened out a little bit I was hitting 200-220 yards. Last weekend I was having a terrible round and just decided to let it loose, to get some frustration out. Hit a few good ones, to my surprise.... I was getting out to 250 -260 land. Which has been unheard of for me.

Longest somewhat normal drive is about 360, caught a speed slot and got a good 50 yard bonus.

 

Longest odd situation drive is 435. Par 5 with a snaking cart path across the fairway. I kid you no I went right down the middle about 290, hit the crossing cart path, then a sprinkler head, then the cart path when it crossed again. Left me 100 out. Hit it inside 10 feet and 3 putted.

Last week I had 180 left to a straight-a-away 535 yard par 5. Fairly level. That's 355! (Tailwind was gusting over 30 ... Played twice that day and pretty much duplicated the drive the second time. Pretty cool going mid iron into a par 5 I hardly ever reach in 2).

About 325 yards. Little tail wind and landed on the perfect downslope for a good kick. No where near that long a driver just got really lucky that day.

Last Friday my buddy and I were playing 9 holes at Hackberry Creek to practice before a tournament on Saturday. The wind was insane! On Hole 5, 547 yard par 5, we had to have had 30+ mph wind directly at our back. We both nutted our drives (for me that usually means about 260/270). We found them both WAY up the right side of the fairway almost side by side. I had 157 yards into a center pin... so scorecard math had our drives at 390 yards! My buddies gps app had them at 383 yards so it was somewhere in that range. The wind that day basically turned that par 5 into a routine par 4... but I went on to put 2 balls in the water on consecutive approach shots and after that miracle backwind helping drive I took a smooth 8 on that hole, lol.

Southwest Missouri to Destin Florida is the longest drive I've made. I've flown longer but I don't think I've ever driven any longer.

Was lucky enough to play in an outing at trump bedminster last summer, course was primed for the ladies us open, firm and fast, par 5 was the long drive, slightly down wind and downhill, I'm not a big guy, 5'7 but I can move it, played D2 and gave it the full treatment, about 341, there was someone out there measuring, probably couldn't do it again

A net result of 375 yards. Cut the corner on a dogleg and had some downhill action from there with a nice roll out. I think it would have been 315 or so with a straight shot down a flat fairway with no wind. What gets me is that some of the tour players can land it as far as I can hope to roll it out (when I swing out my shoes) and I can hit it pretty far for an amateur. When they want to they can really kill the ball...even the short hitters can probably get it to 315 when they really want to. That's about as long as I can hope to hit it on my best drive.

 

I think if guys like Bubba or Tiger or DJ really wanted to go all out and kill the ball they could go 375 or so. But they need some precision so they probably go about 95% most times. That's enough to get them out there 350 at times. A controlled swing for them probably nets 315 or so. If they let it loose they can carry 315 and depending on the bounce, wind, and hardness of fairway can get to 350 or 375. It's incredible to fathom really...they don't even look like they are trying to kill it.
