Winn Grip install: not quite all the way on...ugh

I was putting a new Winn putter grip on this weekend. I found it really hard to get the grip all the way on. Maybe I wasn't using enough solvent. In any case, I have the grip about 95% on. There's about 3/4" that isn't on the shaft.

 

I can use the putter like it is, but I'd really like to get that grip seated right.

 

Any ideas? I have an air compressor and might be able to blow it on, but I've heard it takes a lot of pressure to stretch a Winn grip enough to move it.

I have been using air for at least 5 years and Winn grips are the easiest to blow on because they are firmer than the thin rubber grips that can balloon. You don't need much pressure. I keep my compressor down to about 35-40 PSI and have no issues. And the beauty is you never waste grips and can reuse them whenever you want

If it's on with solvent now, you'll have to loosen it with solvent and push it down further.

You'll need a needle and syringe to get some solvent under the grip.

 

Or, for your P.I.T.A. factor ... just cut it off and buy a new grip to start over.

 

 

Install with blue painters tape and air on your next go around ... very easy to install and adjust if needed.

Can't help you with your current problem, but for next time, I warm them up for about 5 minutes in the oven at low temperature (100F). They'll be a bit more pliable and go on easily with solvent.

Thanks guys. I'm putting well with it as-is. I may just wait until it's worn out and do a better job on the next install. If it'd only been $10 or so I'd be more inclined to buy another one. At $20...
