So here are some video's of today's swings.

The iron is a 7 and obvs then my driver.

Some things I realized after watching, my posture could be a bit "taller", my back swing should not be so behind when coming back and also my shoulder turn can be deeper to create a longer back swing. Or at least thats what I think

Anyway my only thoughts really is hinge the wrists and throw my right elbow as quick as I can. Any feedback is much appreciated.

Coming off of a torn ligament in my left elbow, my swing was destroyed. I couldn't hit anything, I couldn't score, everything was left, it was right, it was drop kicked, etc, etc... Physically, I'm completely rehabbed, mentally, I'm ready to rock, my swing still says no... I'm shooting in the 105-112 range, this after turning a 78 on my last round before the injury. 7 weeks ago I started the Drive4Dough series and began incorporating Monte's direction into my swing. First outing, after one day of video and practice, 106, second outing a week later, 102, more video lessons, more practice, and two weeks later it was 92, the following week, 92 again, two more weeks of practice and videos, yesterday was 87. Now I know these are not amazing scores, but with some basic instruction and carefully applying the lessons a couple at a time, I have made real progress. Sure, I practiced my a** off, but I wouldn't have had anything comprehensive to practice without Monte's video series. So to answer the OP, yes, I am experiencing and expect to continue experiencing success with Monte's training.

Biggest issue is club is open the whole backswing and downswing.

You need to practice slow mo in front of a mirror seeing what you have to do with your wrists.

Hard to tell from video if grip is contributing...

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

Hi thanks for the reply. we score about the same so its good to hear that. Ive never doubted Monte's ability, what i meant with my post is that I am looking for someone who follows his teaching who has had success and is willing to help me.

Help you how? I have had great success but would have no clue how to help someone else! And neither would 99.9% of those who have learned from him and his stuff.

Being able to implement changes on your own via instructional videos is more on the individual than it is on the method/teacher. Lot's of great material out there -Monte's is top notch, easy to understand, and easy to follow. But for me personally, I can easily get off track when I try to do it on my own since I start getting too focused on the ball and can fall into my old mechanics, which is typically reversed very quickly after a lesson. YMMV

One more thing. If you watch use the bounce 2.0, I can say with near certainty that you will see immediate and long term improvement on the course.

Good point....another you you have to watch out for is cheating to acquire the change you are making. For example, I'm working on getting pressure into my right heel going back and left heel on the downswing. I recently noticed that I was turning flat and moving my head laterally too much in order to get into the right heel instead of letting it happen by staying more centered and better hip rotation.

I did a couple of video lessons with Monte a few years ago. All I've gained from it was a low best round, a club championship, and my first time ever qualifying for a GAM gross event by shooting 70 in the rain last year... Oh yeah, I only hit the ball about 220-230 depending on the time of the year.

Terrible ;-)

I'm certainly willing to help in whatever way I can. That being said, I'm a hacker trying to be less of a hacker. If you're interested in the experience of how I am learning on my own and how I've implemented that instruction, I'm happy to share... as far as direction, I'm probably the wrong guy. But, I am happy to discuss anything for the sake of learning and improving.

Monte probably can't even hit a PW 150.

That's cause he plays PW at 48° lol

It is my all time favorite WRX moment. Have you seen that thread?

Attended one of Monte's three day clinics. Learned something every day. Changed my thinking about my swing, and that allowed me to get better. The best day might be the last day when he played a few holes with every group.

So ive been playing and bowing my left wrist a lot, I hope that is what you were aiming at saying Monte.

My distance on my driver has increased a lot, my misses now tend to be left more often. However ive been hitting my irons poorly, mostly fat and left but i will post a video coming Sunday as I guess that could also have a million reasons as to why.

Cheers

You Slice the longer clubs because your right leg straightens out during the backswing and weight goes outside the right knee.

You need to build into the right side - weight should stay on the inside of your right foot and some knee angle should be maintained...

Golf swing is an athletic move - always like Jimmie Ballard's analogy of having a big heavy bag your holding in front of you, if you wanted to throw it left you would flex your knees a bit bring the bag right building on the right leg and then push off that right side to get it moving left....

In your swing, you only have the arms to start the downswing, lookout right...

A lot of people get hung up on Monte’s right elbow to belly button feel. He readily admits it doesn’t work for everyone and can give different feels, which he did for me.

If I’m being honest, I don’t always agree with his hip turn philosophy, but I think he’s one of the great teachers. His students overwhelmingly improve after seeing him. Not the case for many great and well-known teachers.

Monte is an amazing instructor. I'm slightly exaggerating when I say Monte only teaches about 5 things but has 25+ different ways to convey each of those five things. In the larger sense you are getting a proven formula, but it is highly customized for you.

I've had about 7-8 sessions with Monte (maybe a little more). The single greatest lesson I've had from anyone was when we worked on wedges and Driver. I had seen Monte before and he had improved my iron swing, but one day I go see him for a lesson and I tell him upfront there are two things most important to me to fix that day: 100 yard shots as I have lots of shots during a typical round with wedge in hand and I'm all over the place, and Driver with which i had zero confidence and really all over the place. I was an 8 index missing greens at times from 120, and so lost with Driver I would tee off with 3 iron.

Monte started with the wedges, I hit mostly 56 or 52, and he changed setup, pressure, stance, etc......it took awhile but after nearly an hour I was finally getting it dialed in and much, more consistent.

Then Monte swutches it up and tells me to hit Driver. I ask him swing like I usually do or incorporate what we were just working on? He tells me to setup like what we have been working on, except obviously with driver ball is forward in stance, stance wider...and then bam! First swing 250+ dead straight, then to see if was a fluke, again bam! straight, and again and again. Of course I was ecstatic.

It's been two years+ since that lesson and now Driver is one of my most confident shots. I really don't even think about it. I started tracking stats this year and I'm 70% in the fairway, and the rest still plenty playable. I can routinely hit the 56* the 90-100 yards when I need to and the partial shots.

And now my irons suck again...haha...isn't that golf???

The thing is, I don't practice much, I prefer to play. I'm still working on nearly everything Monte has taught me. And like he predicted, as well as he has told many others, getting better is two step forward, three back, then a leap forward, then a slump, up and down, sometimes wildly...but over the long haul I've gotten better.

Monte has given me a swing for life, and a blueprint for constant improvement. No other instructor before has been able to do that. I still tinker around, experiment, but it's ok because I'm doing it with so much more awareness and can discern whether it's consistent with what Monte taught me or counter productive...and if I'm not sure, I can always email Monte knowing a reply will come quickly.

I've been fortunate to meet and learn from many brilliant people all over the world. If I had to choose which mentor/teacher has meant the most to me, made the most impact - it's Monte.

Thank you Monte!
