My custom set of Miura Giken CB-1008 irons

Leading and trailing edge relief is a nice touch. Hearing these are reasonably forgiving heads on mishits. They sure are beautiful.

I agree, that is a nice touch. I have been playing these irons for about a year now and they are amazing. I am a Miura fan for life now. I wish I would’ve customize them the way that you did, but being fit for these was the smartest golf decision I’ve made. I play 4-PW and find them as easy to hit as any other CB iron.

My biggest fear in playing Miura is the sharp leading edges they are known for. My weakness is too quick means unfinished turn back means steep on the way down. Try to avoid it but a softened leading edge can help. Wonder if they would soften the edge of Baby Blades, or is it sacreligious to even think of doing that?

They do custom on other Miura Giken heads, I didn't see the Baby Blades listed. Like you, the sole relief is a must for me.

Wouldn't leading and trailing edge relief be the same thing as camber? One of the first things that I noticed about my W/S v4 was how cambered the sole is. I also tend to have a very steep angle of attack and think turf interaction is a key factor, for me.

Yeah I would think do. The trailing edge was as much for aesthetics as function for me. Sole looks thinner and more balanced.

They look great! Enjoy.

I demoed a CB-1008 6i as they look sweet - but do not have the swing or speed for them - I am more of a 9003 guy.

Have fun.

  • 2 weeks later...

I finally got a chance to hit them. I haven't due to a tournament I was playing in so I was sticking to my Srixon's. They feel amazing, I'm very impressed with the feel and feedback on miss hits. No course time yet, but hopefully I can fix that over the weekend.

I don't know why everyone goes nuts about the price? They aren't actually that much compared to new OEM. I'd rather buy a nice set like this and play them for 5-10+ years.

FW: Wishon 949mc 16.5* w/AXE FW Stiff

Wedges: Cleveland RTX 2.0

They really weren't much more than the new Mizuno or Titleist forged irons. The biggest difference is they are fully custom, I couldn't get that from the big OEM's.

They look great!

Only dealt with TSG a couple times and would never deal with them again. Lousy customer service and tons of attitude when there were issues. They literally stopped returning my emails when they realized there was an issue.

I had some issues with them as well. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

That guy Chris at TSG was actually a bit off his rocker and not just with customer service but also with respect to TSG forums where if you said one disparaging word about anything TSG sold, he threatened to have you banned.

TSG did eventually ban a group of members and then amazingly the banned group simply started their own Japanese forums!

Did you order the heads only from TSG and then have them built yourself? They're actually a really good deal when you order just the heads so I think I'm going to order some from TSG as well. The problem is, I don't see anywhere on TSG where you specify which head weight you want, but I know they're offered in "steel" and "carbon" head weights. Also, do they have that much offset to begin with? Or are you just a zero offset kind of guy? Right now I'm gaming Psi Tour's that have minimal offset, so I have to think these have similar offset and wouldn't drive me crazy where I would need a custom set with less offset. Now the wheels are spinning....

Beautiful clubs.

I couldn't help but laugh at the "tube sock" ferrules comment though.

I chuckled as well, I love the old school ferrules.

So $200 a club?

They were less than that.

I'm looking at ap2 and it costs $185. I guess I have an alternative to look at!

That's what I paid, but fully customized.

They have a decent amount of offset if you get the factory heads. I didn't order off the website. I inquired about the custom offering and they sent a pdf with the custom options, in Japanese. There are pictures on it as well but it took some questions to figure out what some options were. It was by no means an easy process but I'm happy with the results.

I love the length you went to in order to get a custom set of Miura’s. I know without a doubt it was worth it. Beautiful clubs!

I’ve looked for a spec sheet to try and find the offset throughout the set of CB 1008’s but haven’t had any luck. I see the face progression chart, but I’m no expert on converting face progression to offset. Do you know what the exact offset is on the factory heads? Wasn’t sure if it was on that fancy Japanese sheet.

Beautiful set! I just ordered the same clubs through Tour Champion and am pairing them to some Oban CT-115 shafts. I wish I knew about the thinner top line option or full satin head, mine will be standard finish with slightly stronger lofts. I even did the custom "gucci-stripe" ferrules to finish the set. Can't wait to get them in my bag, will post once I get them!
