Superstroke Grips - A few years on..

DUBSTEP

Recommended Posts

So after the initial hype, what is everyones opinions of the SS grips now?

Did you notice a long term gain or have you reverted back to your previous grips?

Personally i didnt get on with any of the original rounded grips as i lost all feel for distance and face control, however, the flatso ultra was a lovely grip, unfortunately i put it on a putter that i couldnt get much feel for but short puts were definitely more consistent

Its time to re-grip my Versa #7 and im trying to decide between SS or going back to a regular pistol (Pingman or WINN)

I love the 2.0 mid slim grip. I have back weighted it with a 75g tour lock and it has removed 99% of the "handsiness" from my putting stroke. Distance control took a bit of work with this combination, but after a little practice, it's no sweat. The big plus for me is that I am now rolling the ball on the line I want every time. That line isn't always right, but I'm no longer pulling or pushing putts.

I'm also playing the 2.0 mid slim and I really like it. I actually can't pick up my previous grips without them feeling minuscule in my hands. I'm thinking about giving the 2.0 flatso a shot, but I'll definitely be sticking to the larger non tapered grip.

My only complaint so far has been durability. I've only had it for a year and it has lost some tackiness and can tear pretty easily.

I just put on a Winn Pro X 1.18. It is very similar to a SS, but different in the hands.... hard to explain. I have been consistently using a SS Claw grip for the past few years.

The Flatso Ultra has done wonders for my consistency and distance control. I've had it in the bag for about a year now. I struggled with the rounded grips. Did alright with the Ultra Slim 1.0 for a while but lost it eventually. I HATED the 2.0, had it on for two rounds, two of the worst putting rounds of my life. But the Flatso is the best grip I've used in terms of allowing me to feel where my hands should be and keep them in the same position over and over again. Consistency breeds consistency with your grip, especially on the putter.

I had the Fatso for a while and thought I loved it until I traded the putter in for a bettinardi. I ended up putting a Flatso 1.0 on it and loved that a lot. Then fell out of love with the putter head and now I have my current Betti with a stock Pure pistol style grip. I had intended on changing it out for another Flatso but played two rounds with it and realized I was putting better with it. So it's stayed for 6 months now.

Looking back, I think the SS grips helped me as my putting has evolved. If I hadn't switched to a toe weighted putter I'd probably still be using a SS. But until the grip I have now wears out, I don't think I'll be using anything else till then.

I used the 3.0 for a few years and converted to a flatso ultra last season. I putted better than a pistol grip with the 3.0 and I putt even better with the Flatso Ultra. I wont go back to a pistol grip.

I've settled on the Ultra Slim 1.0 on the two putters that I use. I really like the grip a lot and don't have any intention of going back to a standard grip.

I can't use a regular sized grip at all, anymore. Just can't get comfortable with where to put my hands.

Used SS for a while, but now prefer the Winn Pro X 1.18. I like it enough that I bought several and stuck them in a drawer just in case the company decides to screw with it.

I have converted almost all of my putter grips to SS 3.0. The only ones which are not SS are putters where the original putter grip is or was close enough to the 3.0 that I did not mind using it.

I cannot putt with small, thin putter grips anymore.

I started with a 3.0 in 2014, but decided it was to big. Went to a 2.0 and it just fit my hands. 2015 came around and I decided to try something different. Lost count of how many times I regripped my putter in the past. Finally decided to go back to what worked a few weeks ago. I grabbed a demo putter with a 2.0 and 3.0, I went back and forth for 15-20 minutes and couldn't decide between the two. Finally went back with the 2.0 since it seemed to require a little less effort. Giving countercore a go and I don't dislike it.

I have tried to love the oversized grip concept but not for me. Maybe the Ultra slim did okay with. Just been playing golf too long with ordinary putter grips.

I moved on from the Mid Slim 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 quickly, but I love the shape of the GT/GTR Tour grip. Wish the gripping surface was more rubber-like but my preferred shape more than makes up for that.

I actually disliked super stroke grips initially. But I have really enjoyed using the flatso. Not even sure I putt better with it but I truly enjoy how it feels in the hands.

Same. I disliked at first. Moved to the FlatSo 2.0 and there has been no looking back. For me, its all about being able to have both my thumbs on a flat surface comfortably.

Went to ss years ago. Went back to iomic, then picked up an old putter of mine with the gtr tour a year ago and it felt like an old pair of jeans. So perfect. So I have gtr tours on all my putters now. Love em. It’s not about distance or alignment, it’s all about feel for me. Just feels confident.

I tried to like them but I cut every one of them off. I'll only use the Ping PP58 or Bestgrips leather anymore.

Dislike them, I have been using normal grip size since I first started golfing. It almost seems I have no feel for putts when trying them.

Stay away from 1.0. Waaay too heavy of a grip. Lose all feel in head.

Work with the 2.0's ... Much, much different grip!

Or gtr tour. 65 grams. Perfect.
