The Evolution of my drive from a slice to a hook - help?

So, until this last golf season, I've always struggled with a slice off the tee. I've worked really hard on overcoming it over the years, and was able to turn it into a slide fade and essentially remove it towards the end of the season last year.

Now, being in Canada, our golf season just got going after my clubs spending a rather lengthy period in the basement.

Anyway, my problem through the first handful of rounds this year has been a rather significant hook. I was able to straighten it out for a round where I played some of my best golf, but the last round I played I couldn't get the hang of it.

The biggest problem for me is that it took a (far too) long time for me to correct the slice, but I have that under control. I know that if I'm slicing that day what to look for in my swing. For a hook though, I don't have much experience with it and trying to overcome it.

The main thing I'm wondering is that once I fixed my slice last season, I was able to start swinging a lot harder with more confidence (probably adding 40-50 yards off the tee, which was huge for me). Is a harder swing a possible reason for the hooks? I'm find with losing some distance off the tee while I work on my drive (again) at the range.

Anyway, this was rambly and I'm sorry for that.

But, with the wealth of good (and bad) advice on the internet for fixing all manners of problems in your golf game, is there anything recommended for fixing a hook? Or at least, something to help me understand WHY a hook happens so I can start to evaluate my own swing and look to correct this fairly new problem that I've started experiencing.

Yellowballs is right.

One thing that impacts that position very strongly is how active your upper body is vs lower body.

Lower body first (correct), fade or slice, unless you're closing the face on time, then straight.

Less lowe body turn, overactive hands and shoulders, hook city.

Get your sequencing right, and make sure to close the face.

Not necessarily, lots of people fire out with lower body quickly, which then stalls as upper body tries to catch up. Arms can get stuck, hands flip, and voila hook.

Too verticle of a shoulder turn is also a common issue. For OP specifically, video is needed to tell what exactly he is doing. Could be a number of other causes.

A video would help but generally when a slicer becomes a hooker its typically 2 things. taking the club too far inside too quickly and then flipping your hands to shut the face or your setup/grip.

The takeaway is probably killing you. it needs to be rehearsed religiously to allow it to get ingrained properly and so that you have the ability to correct on the course if it starts going sideways.

Heres a video to help you with some checkpoints

Lots of things can cause a hook, slice whatever. You can't look at it as x body position causes y result. Way more variables and Dynamics in play.
