My custom set of Miura Giken CB-1008 irons

I love the length you went to in order to get a custom set of Miura’s. I know without a doubt it was worth it. Beautiful clubs!

I’ve looked for a spec sheet to try and find the offset throughout the set of CB 1008’s but haven’t had any luck. I see the face progression chart, but I’m no expert on converting face progression to offset. Do you know what the exact offset is on the factory heads? Wasn’t sure if it was on that fancy Japanese sheet.

I don't know for sure, I got mine at +1.5 from standard.

Beautiful set! I just ordered the same clubs through Tour Champion and am pairing them to some Oban CT-115 shafts. I wish I knew about the thinner top line option or full satin head, mine will be standard finish with slightly stronger lofts. I even did the custom "gucci-stripe" ferrules to finish the set. Can't wait to get them in my bag, will post once I get them!

Please post some pics when you get them!

I went into Tour Champion hoping to be fitted into the new PXG irons. After testing head to head with about 8 or 9 different iron heads and shaft combos, the CB-1008's performance/numbers stood out. Most of all, the CB-1008's were hands down the best feeling iron I tested that day, and it's been a while since I've hit an iron and had the same type of feel. I can't wait to get them out on the course.

I’d love to hear the differences in feel/control/etc compared to your Srixons. I play a Srixon 565/765/965 combo set with the PX 6.5 shafts, so we have pretty similar sets. I went with some Miura wedges and absolutely love them... but have never swung a Miura iron

+1. Yes please. Any comparisons on playability of these versus the Srixons, or i200 or MP18, would help a lot of us slot these on the forgivness scale. They are undoubtedly beautiful. I look at this thread almost every day just to check them out again!

I’ve got a bubble-wrapped set of satin new Baby Blade heads with no paintfill. They have never been shafted and are truly works of art. I was pondering whether to build them this summer, but now am pondering whether the better move is to sell them to someone who wants to play them and go with the 1008 CB instead. It is basically the same cost, though the fact that the BB has been discontinued makes them even more special.

Each head has the exact weight listed on the wrapping. It is amazing how tight the tolerances are at Miura. I want to try a Miura iron and it’s all about choosing the right one. I also could just keep the BB heads and go with the 1008 CB too. Hard to decide. I hate to see perfect heads wrapped up in a box but I also don’t want to go out there with irons that are a bit beyond my skill level.

The BB's are special, I've gamed them for a short time. I finally got out on my course today and played 18. My swing was a bit inconsistent today. I hit some really good shots and had a few directional misses. The best shot I hit all day was a 5 iron 194 uphill with a back right pin to about 10 feet, perfect five yard fade. It felt good to pull off that shot with the new irons. On my missed shots they were the proper distance just offline. My distances were on par with my Srixon's which is great. They do look tiny compared to my z765 6 and 5 iron. I'm hoping to play again next week, just need my sore wrist to ease up a bit. All in all I'm pleased so far.

Baby blades have a cult following.

Get them shafted and play them.

I like your attitude! And that is likely what I shall do.

...sweet sticks! Any more time to compare against the Srixons? Would love to read more as continue to dial them in.

Played today in Hilton Head with my Srixon's. Missing everything left, must be adjusting to the MG's lack of offset. I think I hit the MG's a bit longer than the Srixon's and definitely straighter. Hopefully I'll get a couple of rounds in at my club next week.

Sounds like you need to unload those Miuras so you can focus on your Srixons. I am sure one of us on this thread can take those 1008’s off your hands.

I will need those ferrules altered slightly to maize and blue. ?

  • 2 weeks later...

I have finally cut the cord and have listed my Srixon's on the bst. I'm hitting the MG's so much better now I'm use to them. Hitting them further and more consistent than my old irons. To me they are very easy to hit even though they look a bit intimidating. If anyone is on the fence about trying CB 1008's I highly recommend you give them a try. If not I've got a great set of Srixon's for sale at a good price.

Go Tigers.

I don't play often, hit balls 2-4 times per week at Marietta Golf Center off I-75.

Tend to play Echelon (in Crabapple) the most often.

How do your new clubs hit? Hope you love them!

Its actually spelled "Geaux Tigers"

Great looking sticks! How long did the process take start to finish?
