Best books you have read concerning Junior Golf

Daddy Caddy on the bag was great for new golf parents/ young golfers.

, especially those of us in the midst if the US Kids Golf Circus. Lots of good high level principles to keep perspective in the right place and focused on cultivating a long term approach to the game and the process. Also gives some practical drills and games that are suitable to younger golfers. Author is with Don Law Golf Acadmwy I believe and written on the heels of taking his own junior through the journey. I’ve re read it annually for the last few years to reiterate some things for myself.

I think the book Paper Tiger puts things into perspective for those parents who think their kid could be the next Tiger Woods.

Best books I have found are old books on golf have all been about improving your game. There is something good about old books that were written before modern day videos and over analyzing you see today on everything. They just simply explain things a little more. So much stuff out there is just misleading or not a good fit for everyone.

 

Also having kids read about others who overcame adversity in sports is good. Nothing wrong with reading about Bobby Jones and Arnold Palmers or even books about tiger's struggles to rise to the top. They all had challenges too.

 

Read too much into all this other junk your not spending time improving.

‎The Art of Manliness: #561: Get With the Program on Apple Podcasts

Not a book, but this Podcast episode is very good - lots of takeaways that can be applied to bringing up your junior golfer, athlete, or just kids in General. Love the section near the end about working hard means "One More"...great tactic to help move the needle. Highly recommend listening.

It Takes What It Takes: How to Think Neutrally and Gain Control of Your Life: Moawad, Trevor, Staples, Andy: 9780062947123: Amazon.com: BooksFinding myself with more time to read lately. This is a good one. Content would be very useful to a guiding your junior.

Journey to Excellence - Henry Brunton is an excellent all round book. Rick Heard's "Daddy Caddy on the Bag" is full of great practical advice, Fred Shoemaker's "Extraordinary Golf" helps put the game in perspective and "Seven Days in Utopia" is an excellent movie and book (great to watch with your kids).

For parents, Ryan Holiday's "The Obstacle is the Way" is a book on stoicism which can be very effective in golf, e.g. dealing with things you do not control and how to respond and react to events. Rory Mcllroy is a recent fan and follower. If it can help him it can probably help you and your junior also!

Grit is really good. I picked this up and have been reading. I am not a reader by any stretch of the imagination and I am impressed. Nothing to do with golf but everything to do with how to be successful in Golf.
