EA sports, PGA split

Honestly really liked the last game. Did really well in ranked online play (i think top 100 at my peak?). Can't wait for another one to sink my teeth into!

I had a lot of fun with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. I even shot a 48 one time. The Rory McIlroy game was alright. I still play it occasionally but hopefully this will result in a better experience for the gaming golfer.

Not surprised EA has not done anything with golf in a while. i dont know how you would set up game purchases and micro transactions on the level of madden, or any of the other team sport games. which is what EA is all about now.

pretty easily: Outfits, clubs, courses. tons of revenue generating properties in the PGA games, they just never did it.

EA has definitely thinned their portfolio over the last few years, will be interesting to see how this game turns out

The EA Sports game got pretty stale after the split with Tiger Woods. The Rory game was ok, but it could have been WAY better, and it had just been in a holding pattern with no intention of them updating it. I'm interested in this new game. The Q School, Web.com Tour, earning the Tour card in career mode could be interesting. Only having a handful of real world courses may keep it from being great though. When EA Sports finally got the rights to add the Masters, that game really blew up. You can only play the TPC Courses so many times...but the build your own course feature could be fun.

EA golf games were pretty good. Rory PGA was pretty decent, the live online was fun, but lacked the courses.. I liked the Tiger ones because it had alot of courses, the masters for one...

The golf club, never really hit the spot for me...

I hope the build your own course is done well. I remember being able to build baseball stadiums on some of the older games and that was a lot of fun

I like The Golf Club 2. It's a pretty fun game to play online. You can join online societies and qualify though what's called the challenge circuit, then web.com, euro, PGA up to world tour. There is a pretty big community and tons of user created (solid I might add) courses to play.

 

Worth checking out sometime if you play golf games

 

Edit: I didnt really read the article but this is the newest version coming out within this product line. Its a fun game to play no doubt and for those of you talking about the course editor it's very in depth and very well done on the current game.

Rory game was terrible. The Character Customization was a complete joke and bare bones at best, esp considering how EA sports games normally are. They got rid of the Masters and recycled the same courses over and over.

 

I’d love to see a golf game kind of like how MLB The Show is. You start as a Collegiate or Mini Tour Player, go through your Q School etc and make it on tour. Full customization. Tons of club manufacturers and equipment. Sponsors. The works.

EA hasn't done much with anything in a long while. More about satisfying share holders than making a quality product.

I bought the Rory one and was super disappointed. Online mode never worked and the course selection was poor. I could only play chambers bay so much before it got old.

That's decent. But unless they shell out the bucks to get player sponsors, company sponsors and courses across the pond and venues like Augusta, Pebble, etc. it won't pique my interest. Looks like two steps forward, and two steps back.

Links Ls to this day is still the best golf game ever. Great physics, literally thousands of courses because they had a course designer.
