-31 on 18 Holes of Golf ?

I play the Fisher House tournament every year and a good friend of mine runs the one down in Green Valley. She said the first place prize is a sleeve of balls because screw cheaters. The real prizes are in the raffle and auctions. They do all the things like mulligans, strings etc because they want it to be fun for people and the majority of people that come out to play them play golf once a year.

-31 without string crap or any funny things? No way.

I've played in many scrambles maybe over 500 of them or so and best 4 man score I've done was 22 under par 50 with one mulligan each player. We usually do see some pencil whippings but nothing like those several scores in 40's. Best score I've seen was 22 under 49 on an easy course.

this is what we do a lot for our scrambles. 1st, 2nd, 3rd win ok stuff but the good things are the raffles

Forever Changing at this point.......

What's the average winning score?

I’d love to claim that I was a former SEAL but I would never stoop that low. Just a former squid with a huge love and appreciation for our Special Operations community. I collect as much Navy SEAL stuff as I can and do whatever I can to give back to the veteran community. My son (4 months old now) is gonna get bed time stories from all the books I have lol.

As far as winning scores, right around the -24 to -26 mark is usually what wins. My friend who runs it has the mentality that if they are gonna cheat, at least they are donating to a good cause. It’s their conscience they have to deal with.

I don't believe it at all.

Maybe if they were playing from 4800 yards and had unlimited mulligans.

What was the name of the course? I want to see the scorecard.

^this^.......those scores are just stupid low. I've never seen 18 hole scores like that. We're missing some info. Executive course? Par 58? Unlimited mulligans? C'mon man!

Agree, thanks Shipwreck. My son is a Navy Corpsman attached to the 1st Marines Raider Battalion (MARSOC) at Pendleton. I'll be in San Diego visiting him for the 4th of July, enjoying the fireworks from atop the deck of the Midway.

Doesn't anybody else here play in legitimate scrambles? Ones that aren't filled with cheats (I play in enough of those too)? But we also play several where there are two groups on each hole so the scoring and any drive requirements are legit. Yes it takes longer, but when I'm playing in one of these its usually with good friends so it makes the time much more tolerable.

Definitely like the two and three man stuff better, but we survive the four man deals too.

Yes. We have a November 4-person Scramble with ABCD random draw players.

Winning score has been (-12) and (-11) the past two years. Par 70. Approx. 6200 yards. I was lucky enough to win 1. :)

I'm not a fan of the blind draw tournaments for two reasons.

1: if I'm going to be out there for longer than normal, I want to be with friends. Or at least people who are enjoyable to be out there with.

2: I don't want to draw someone who is a real ****** to play with. Or a big vanity cap.

They do have a 2 day blind draw tourney locally though where they redraw for the second day. Like two separate tournaments. That would be interesting and I'm sure the draw party is a lot of fun.

I hear ya Dead. Thing is, we’re all friends. Part of the same Type 3 USGA club that started, funny enough, because we all post on an ongoing thread on WRX.

Teams could be hand-picked, and I wouldn’t doubt the veracity of scores one bit.

(-31) stretches the level of believability well past humorous and into the obscene.

I know there’s a local scramble tournament that happens where it’s a blind draw from 4 different flights based off of your verified HC. I don’t think too many vanity cappers go there because they would probably get laughed at and if I’m not mistaken it’s fairly expensive to do this tournament. Might have to check it out though.

We actually have quite a few where people seem to be honest. We have won a few recently at -12, -13, -14

We also lost one at -13 to a group of guys where not one of them could break 90 solo, and they shot -16.....ummmm, ok.

All of the ones we play are for charity, so don't get too worked up about it.

Same here, I prefer two teams playing together. Most of the scrambles I play in are fundraisers and prizes are minimal. I play in them to enjoy golf and playing with friends.

There's been a big one going on here for years. I've never played in it because of the cost. I've been told you can figure on it being a $1,500 weekend. The calcuttas have routinely topped $50,000 (apparently law enforcement finally stepped in ((illegal gambling)) and no more calcutta, so no more tournament). Each player ABCD hit from a different tee box, so the goal was always to have that D player with some distance and your A& B be good putters and short irons.

Even with all that cost involved, it's unreal the horror stories I've heard about the vanity caps who would still pony up the money. Team would draw a 5 cap for it's A player and he couldn't break 90 on his own. That type. I guess they figured maybe they would get lucky and draw a good enough team that they would carry them. Or maybe they just had more money than brains.
