Ping G400 Stretch

Have mine ordered .Took one out and demoed it on golf course with the tour shaft.Great feel and distance when hit on the numbers and had no problems launching it from the fairway.Want to use it as a driver replacement for now, and when my driver becomes more reliable it plays as a longer 3 wood than my current 15 degree.

I picked up one of these used the other day and really like it from the tee, very easy to keep it in the fairway. Mine is still set at 13.5 degree loft and I like the trajectory, I'll try lowering it to 12.5 and see what happens.

I have had no trouble getting 15 degree fairway woods launched nice and high, but so far I can't trust hitting this one out of the fairway, about half the time it's not a good shot. It's a one-trick pony for me, although I really like the trick.

Great club for the tee, deck is another animal. 14.5* G400 more versatile, not sure if there is enough 'gains' with Stretch vs. reg. G400 3W!?

I gave this club some thought but in the end I dismissed it. For me it would have been strictly an off the tee club for tight fairways. But after giving it some more thought, I thought that just choking down on my driver would be doing essentially the same thing. Not exactly the same but close enough and not adding a additional club in my bag that I would have to manage.

I've got one set to 12* with a Hzrdus Yellow 75. I really like mine. I'm a high launch, high spin player, so I have no issues at all using it from the fairway, but bought it primarily for use off the tee when playing tighter courses.

I used to play a Cobra LTD at 13.5 with Tour Green shaft, but the Ping is just more accurate for me for some reason. Very straight!

The Cobra sounds a lot better though. The Stretch is the loudest of the 400 series to my ears.

Currently I still use a SLDR Mini Driver 14° on the 3 wood spot, but only can hit it off a tee. After I demoed the Stretch FW I ordered one immediately. It looked like the clubface was as tall as the Mini which I need and want off the tee and I could hit it off the deck which makes it more versatile for me.

Hmm. I'd better not try one then. My SLDR Mini Driver is my favorite club in the bag right now.

I hear you. It`s my go to club from the tee when the big dog gets crooked.

I found the G400 Stretch a step back from the G, personally. Full disclosure I never owned either. The G with the Tour shaft was a missile launcher for me, high, straight, and probably just as much carry as my driver. When I finally decided to buy one, they were sold out because the 400 was on the way. I eagerly tried the 400 the day it came out and was left disappointed. I think the issues it solved for many of you (being easier to elevate off the deck) is what made it not great for me. It spun too much and was just as long as my 4wd at the time; I didn't find much separation.

I think I found the answer in my Rogue SZ but wouldn't hesitate to try the future stretches as they are great clubs.

Mine just arrived today.ordered mine with the tour shaft and the shaft was on back ordered and took a good 3 weeks for it to arrive.I demoed the g400 stretch around a month ago and had no problem launching it off the fairway in nutural setting.Today I set it at 12.5 the lowest setting, but have not reached a verdict yet.I will and hit the range later this week and adjust the setting for optimal distance.

The drives I did hit off the t went good distances .probably over swinging a bit today and not sure is the fade was the more open club face when set down 1 degree or my swing..Always like new toys in my bag.

I play the g400 stretch along with he driver and 5w. The stretch is an amazing club for me, especially after pairing it with the right shaft. I play the black mamba in my driver and the stretch but an ad-di in the 5w.

The stretch is just money off the tee for me. The driver is great but about 1/2 the courses I play are target golf and the driver is too much off the tee. With this set up at the top of the bag has really helped me shoot lower scores. Off the fairway it’s easy to launch but it’s a rare day when it is used off the deck. I’m getting old and really don’t hear any difference between the stretch and my 5w.

The only club I like hitting more than my stretch is my 5w. It is the most versatile club in my bag. But back to the stretch, I had the 14.5 g400 3w and switched to the stretch and haven’t looked back.

Just wondering if anyone out here has any experience with the Ping G400 Stretch fairway wood?

I'm potentially looking at it as a driver replacement on short / tight courses where accuracy is at a premium.

I have one. It's great off the tee. Really great. I can hit it off the deck no problem but getting a nice trajectory is tougher. It kinda looks like a stinger, which on occasion is nice, but going for a par 5 in 2 makes it tough. My G30 3 wood is way more versatile and slightly shorter off the tee.

Picked one of these up at an end of the year sale. Took it out today for the first time, presently surprised. It seemed to hit better off the deck than off a short tee, for my swing. Kinda windy today and I had no issues keeping the ball in play. It did exactly what I wanted it to do, that's a rare occurrence. Ping G400 woods are going to be very hard to top.

I bag one.

My home course's back nine is very tight and I routinely use the stretch on four or five of the holes.

It's strictly a driver replacement though.

I haven't practiced with it enough off the deck to trust it in a round.

I purchased the G400 Stretch about 6 weeks ago. I was looking for a strong 3W with bigger head as an driver alternative for sub 400 yd Par 4s, but still be able to carry it 250-260. This club didn’t disappoint and loved it. 3 weeks in, it made a strange sound off the face and looked down to see it was cracked across the top of the face. Ping and my pro shop were awesome in getting me a replacement. 3 weeks in with the replacement head, I looked down and there’s already a crack in the face in the exact same spot as the original. I don’t know if it’s my swing speed or how this is happening, but not exactly thrilled about the prospect of sending another one back to ping for replacement.

After the recent price drop, I picked one up a couple weeks ago at the PGA Tour SS. Love it so far. I have it set to 14-degrees, and it does exactly what I wanted - hits medium-height draws. No problem hitting it off the deck. Thankfully (I guess), I don't have the kind of speed needed to crack the face like the poster above. Yikes.
