You should sell your golf clubs, buy a boat then gradually get sick of it and remember why you love golf, then sell your boat, buy new golf clubs, start back golfing, and remember why you hate golf. Switch and play from the other side. I've heard of people doing this. Kinda like being a beginner again and starting

all over........and avoiding all the pitfalls that beset you the first time around. Now, you can be a beginner armed with

all the knowledge and experience you have acquired.

It takes too long, there are too many cheaters, and I'm not smart enough to play.

Any suggestions on a new hobby to spend my newfound 16 hours a week and thousands of dollars of disposable income on?

P.S. Wife already said no to hookers and blow.

So something quick, expensive, uncompetitive and easy for simpletons? Slot machines.

Take up off road r/c racing 8th scale. This is what I do when not playing golf. Check out some utube vids. I also have a garden, and keeping one weed free is beyond me.The r/c racing is a blast once you get the hang of it, and you can easily get better over time, unlike golf where you hit a plateau.

Suddenly I have a renewed interest in golf today....had to put up with playing with a newbie today.

The way she holds that putter, is it just me?

Bag is in overhaul mode

It's not just you. And it's not even a putter! LOL! But who's looking at the club?

Make Tater Tots.

The world will be a better place.

There is nothing better than a hamburger with tater tots on the side both with spicy brown mustard.

At 28, I'm already coming off 2 hip surgeries, 2 herniated discs and a variety of other issues in a run of bad luck over the last 3 years. I've nearly lost all my game and touch, but I'm still giving it a go to try to get it back. I still enjoy the process of getting a bit better each day although it is very tedious.

If you left the game because it was too tough or frustrating, I envy that leave. When it's snatched from you, its tougher to accept.

Good for you. It is a waste of money if it isn't fun anymore.

You know, there's a lot of truth here. I played a 9-hole round my myself last Thursday during which I smother-hooked two drives and cold-topped a 4-iron into the water. Something broke in me that day. I'm amazed at the extent to which I can go thru my whole routine, put the best swing on the ball that I can, and still hit an unbelievably awful shot. No amount of practice or preparation does any good anymore. I've given everything to this game that I possibly can. I can't remember the last round of golf that was any fun. I am completely, totally, and utterly exhausted.

Sorry to get serious.

Great "put stuff in perspective" post.

To you guys giving up the game because of some bad rounds.....see ya.

Life's too short, I don't know on the course of life if I'm teeing off on 10, or putting out on 18, but I guarantee you I made the turn. I'm not gonna miss any holes on the back 9 because of frustration!

So, if you're pouting because your games not where you think it should be...mind if play through?

It’s the BearQs and the Wounded Warriors vets of this world who can put perspective on golf. We who want to quit because of our expectations have a childish attitude. I included myself in this group. Family is the only thing that should get in our way from playing the game, even if it’s only once a week , month, or year. Forgot to say health and money issues should be considered as whether to continue the game.

And if someone else gets in a huff and quits, can you take a bunch of the self-absorbed, spoiled sorts (both ends of the spectrum) with you?

Oh, and the people with the boom boxes too? Every little bit helps. :)

Ever had lessons from a reputable pro? Just because your passion to improve is there, doesn't mean you're going to see results.

Me too. I "quit" for about 5-6 months, which really just meant I legitimately stopped for the winter. :)

Seems like Tennis could be a logical transition and it could help your golf game if you come back.

Hmmm. How does tennis help your golf game?

the mechanics of the swing and weight transfer is very similar. I'd say more than baseball or hockey. I'm not quite sure hockey can even be considered a "similar" action. Coming from someone who has played his whole life. The slap shot is the closest thing but still not representative at all in my opinion.
