Columbia, SC

My wife and I are relocating to Columbia this summer from the Philadelphia area so she can start a new job @ the VA hospital. I am working remote for my current company, so I am not too worried about a commute to work, but more worried about how few golf courses there are in the region where the VA hospital is.

 

I am just tyring to get feedback about CC's in the area, prefer fully private to avoid the 5 hour weekend rounds, but am open to semi private. Just turned 30, no kids and don't plan on having any in the near future. Budget is pretty flexible, but looking for a place that has good golf, a good range, and doesn't charge the trail walking fee's ( I know Columbia CC does). I would like a club with someone regular tournaments / events as I find it a good way to meet new people with similar interests.

 

I reached out to Silver Spring and Columbia CC, but trying to see what other places I should try and schedule a visit / round out when we head down there to find our new home ( most likely in April).

What part of columbia? it's pretty spread out and that can have an affect on where you want to join. I have played a few in the area and my favorite is CC of Lexington, although Spring Valley is very nice as well.

I am living in the Cayce area right off 77 at the 12th street extension. I was in town over the holiday weekend and went to look @ the Members club and Spring Valley. Didn't get to play either course due to what I thought was rain ( and of course it didn't really rain at all).

 

I thought the facilities at the Members club were pretty nice in terms of the range and practice area. With the dues for the Junior Membership it seems like the better option of the two (Two courses, not closed on Mondays, etc), even though it is about a 20-30 minute drive to the course.

 

I want to go look at CC Of Lexington after I move down in July and I am going to try and get a round at the courses before I decide.

 

The Wife is looking for a place that has a decent social atmosphere for her (even though she will probably never go), so that is a plus if they have something for her, but not really required.

Do you live in Concord Park?
