I didn’t like the thickness of the sole relative to my Miura BB. Granted, they have a V sole, but the execution of the sole on the Hogans is better IMO.

Any news........?

I'm vacationing in Japan in April. Eying these up as a souvenir.

Any thoughts on the gapping of these irons? I prefer 4i-22˚-pw-46˚, but not 4˚ gaps all the way through.

Also anyone prefer raw over the chrome or vise versa? I like the look of both. I like chrome for initial durability, but thinking the raw will age /maintain better. I have had raw wedges, but never irons. Planning on keeping these and playing them as a secondary set the rest of my life.

Apologies for the absence from the thread. Been working in gym on long drive training more than swinging these but recently got them out, comparing 7i's: Kyoei on TT BG X vs. Cobra King Forged Pro CB on TT X7 the cavity back was longer, but I'm able to swing the Cobra 4 mph faster and feel the head is bit hotter than the blade, so always going to be longer full blast. For normal swinging the Kyoei feels better and distance given up for it doesn't matter to me as I'm long with them any way. My preference for stepless shaft aesthetics is why I have BG's in the set, however, if the X7 was offered in 41" I'd likely replace the BGs with them. The Mizuno driving irons at the top of this bag are an absolute joy to hammer with, testing a PXG Gen II 1i soon but it will have to be exceptional to overtake the MHP5s for 1i-3i in this set. Regarding Miura, have always admired them but haven't swung a set, the Kyoei's hooked me on appearance and aggressive specs.

Still love mine. Relief leading edge too.

Love the rusty look!

Thanks, 'Rusty The Wonder Wedge'...

Pretty easy to replicate, it was brand new. Vinegar soak for couple hours, then hydrogen peroxide soak with course salt add to the solution and refreshing solution and letting piece air dry between refreshes, day or two and done. propping club up and using a sandwich bag reduces the amount of peroxide you need to submerge the head.

This has to be done on a raw clun to work.....correct?

I just got these of Thursday. Played with them Friday. They were everything I hoped for and more. The feel off of the face and the turf interaction is as billed. They are stronger lofted so they were a club long. I guess I'll just have to get new wedges to fill gaps. Not a bad problem to have.

Those look incredible. Congrats!

The PW is 46*.....do u normally play a 50* ??? Very few people play the traditional lofted clubs these days......I found these irons to be about 1/3 of a club long but I play modern lofts. They are discontinuing the 5 way sole and going with the W grind.

Any updates now that you've had them in the bag for a few months? How's the wear?

I have a set of these, as well as BB and PXG 0311T. My take is as follows:

softness: KK >> BB >>>> PXG

distance: PXG > BB slightly > KK

forgiveness: PXG>>> BB > KK

sweet spot size: PXG only slightly > BB and equal to KK

kk has a large sweet spot in my open, easily the same as the BB. PXG is a different animal. It has a large sweet spot, and very bad off center hits only lose about 3-5 yards depending on the iron hit.

The wear on the KK face is noticeable after 10 or so rounds with range sessions. Nothing too bad. Nothing I would say is detrimental to the appearance. I would say it is what is expected and nothing out of the ordinary for sure. One thing I would say is that the metal used in the KK is noticeably softer/more prone to denting than the BB. I hit a shot out of the rough and there was an old ball buried beneath my ball--dented the sole of the 9 iron. Pebbles in the the sand scratch it up too. If it is a big deal to you, don't buy the KK. I have a lot of sets of irons, and that alone makes me hesitant to think about buying another set. But who cares, can't take it with you.

I currently hit the KKs and really enjoy them. the BB are great and nice for sure. I played them 90% of the time for the last several years and stock piled 4 sets when they stopped regular production of them I liked them so much. The PXG is great and it is unfortunate they get bashed on here so much as they are great clubs and if I played for a living, I would hit them everyday and never look back. But I play for the enjoyment of knowing I shot a good score with clubs no one else has or can hit..

So my take is this:

PXG is by far the most forgiving, easiest to hit, can work the ball if you choose, high ball speed on off center hits that money can buy

BB is by far the pinnacle of blade prototype irons, and now a 'legacy' item so buy them as you can.

KK is by far the softest, most pleasurable to hit with a large sweet spot/beyond what is expected and worth the money to own.

Nice. Moving from these to pxg must be night and day in terms of forgiveness?
