Women competing in Men's events are so 2000's. Now what will really gain my interest is when Steve a scrub-alternate who couldn't cut it on his D2 college team decides to become Stephanie and compete as the first transgender member of the LPGA. Our little golf chatroom discussions will immediately become much more interesting lol

Bam Bam's invite is no surprise.....why?

1) Barbasol needs all the attention they can get opposite to the Open Championship

2) Bam is Pure Silk sponsored...Perio Inc....owns Barbasol & Pure Silk.

At 7100 yds and a 270+ driving avg.....the length won't be an issue for Bam....I'm sure she plays often with long drive competitor husband and the boys back home in Florida at over 7000 yds when she's not fishing or napping.

Where Bam will lag behind the PGA guys is her short game, putting and proximity to the hole on approach shots.

If she hits lightening in a bottle, she could possibly make the cut....Annika could have made the cut at Colonial if she putted better...Annika was a good putter...but not a superior putter.

The media will be able to take a short break from yapping on the Tiger present Open Championship....I believe he is qualified to play?

Besides...the OC will be played long before the starting tee times at the Barbasol too.

I’m not a big fan of stunts in sports. I’m especially not a fan of stunts that set up women for failure and lead to more “Could Your Average Male First Time Golfer Beat Your Average LPGA Player?” threads on Golfwrx.

Given the state of her chipping and putting I expect her to have a very poor showing.

It's just a stupid golf tournament. Is all this outrage really warranted?

Where are seeing "outrage"?

Very negative (and pointlessly so) response so far. Weird because this is a women's golf fan subforum. Almost every single pro golf tournament has some sponsor invitations in the field. It's of no interest, that is until someone known like Brittany, or Jerry Rice, or Steph Curry is invited. Then suddenly everyone's full of snark.

I am rooting for Brittany and I'm surprised that literally nobody else here is. She has a lot of swing speed and call me stupid but I believe she could make the cut.

I personally don't care one way or the other, I'm over the the hole women against the men thing. I got no issue with the gals playing in the events, it just doesn't move the needle for me one way or the other. Like KBong says it won't be the length gets Brittany in a PGA event it will be the short game. PGA like to shave it around the greens giving you tight lies with green misses. When all things are relative that's the biggest difference between the LPGA and PGA, the execution of the short game. That said I hope Brittany finishes at least 10th cause with that she'll at least get a bigger payout than an actual LPGA win lol

Barbasol is so desperate for coverage...no one will be watching this event.

The Brittany invite will get 100 more people to watch the event...and if 5 of those viewers buy a can of Barbasol....they just made an additional profit of $2.50....it all about capitalism. :taunt:

I'll be one of those 100 people...but will record it and just FF it to Bam Bam's shots.

I don't think Brittany has any expectations....Perio asked her and as a Pure Silk endorsed pro she said yes...and I really do believe Bam Bam likes playing with the boys when she's at home.

How come the LPGA doesn't invite a guy to play in one of their events?

For the same reason that major leaguers don’t play in the Little League World Series. Going up a level or two is not the same as dropping down.
