Does anybody miss the old Be Better Golf Youtube Show?

For those of you who pay the $10, can you at least report the final score? I have 0% interest in paying $10 to watch this but I'm somewhat interested in knowing the outcome.

 

Me too. In an era where everything is going towards ad-supported content, BBG wants to go back to the pay-per-view heyday of the 1980s.

 

Barstool sports has been doing the same PPV with amateur boxing (something I’d never watch). I actually like the idea, though. If there is something ad free and high quality that I want to see, I’ll pay $10. The challenge Brandon will have in the future is getting good matchups that interest people. Monte is the reason most paid to watch this and without him I don’t think Blair or other similar aspiring tour pros will generate much interest.

I agree, for ad free content, you expect to pay a premi. Reason youtube is free is because most videos you are forced to watch an ad before hand. I opted out of that and pay $10 a month for Youtube Red, which is ad free (amongs a few other perks).

I went with YouTube Red as well. I hate ads. Worth every penny.

I've been vocal about my feelings towards Brendon's channel previously, but I paid the $10 to support the match between Monte and Blair, as I like both guys and would like to see them succeed. I think the matches are a cool idea and wouldn't mind seeing more of that sort of thing, provided it continues to support the players first and foremost. That said, I agree with a previous poster that it's probably going to be hard to generate similar interest in future matches. At the end of the video Brendon asked for suggestions on who to have on next....no one came to mind immediately. After some more thought, I'd be interested in watching Victor Rodriguez and Brian Wilbor play a match, but the price point would have to be a little lower and I don't think it would be nearly as compelling. There are some other high level amateurs that would be fun to watch as well, but it's going to be a tough one to keep going IMO.

 

The video was nicely done, there were some good moments in the match, and all in all I would say well done to BBG.

I've always liked his ideas and this is a good one as well. I think he'd fair much better if he focused more on the production part (behind the camera) and kept his on camera stuff to a minimum. He just doesn't come across well in front of the camera to me, but he obviously has skills putting the stuff together. I believe he works in television if I'm not mistaken. He might have a legit shot at turning his channel into a full time gig if he get this type of thing going.

I don't understand why you guys won't say who won, like it's taboo. Mayweather vs McGregor was PPV but about 10 seconds after the fight I was "allowed" to know what happened. The premium is for no ads and live action... not the knowledge necessarily.

I like Monte, Bobby and a few other guests that have been on the channel. Personally I'm not a big fan of Brendon being on camera and his interviewing style nor am I a big fan of his reactionary golf stuff or golf schools or being a pseudo instructor etc... but I do appreciate some of content he puts out. I won't pay for the ppv but I understand why those who have won't disclose the result.

I don't think I would do 10+ bucks to watch a match, but after unsubscribing and not paying attention to him the last year or so, I've noticed a few of his old school playing vlogs, a couple matches and more golf/less teaching.

 

I'll tune into a couple videos and see whats up.
