Just pulled trigger on new Flightscope X3. Will have it in Chicago next week. Still a few openings

Recommended Posts

Got some excellent and new insights, some others reinforced and then introduced to something that feels really weird! Yes, I said it!

Oh, and based on some video evidence from later this afternoon, "weird" is the new word for a pretty darn good looking impact position - still, lots of work ahead, questions being formulated this evening, should be a great Sunday.

Edit: And some questions, a suggestion, and a feel and a drill that work!

Great day today (Sunday) and about 15 minutes with Monte near the pressure mat, after struggling on my own for awhile, and things make perfect sense and can hit a nice little 100 yard shot implementing a critical refinement. I guess that's "aha"! Nice to leave with a plan that gets through my thick skull.

My daughter is thrilled with a couple of things they worked in and is a much better early adapter, lol.

As a first timer, this was a really enjoyable 2 days. Eye opening in some areas of my swing and confirming a couple problems.

The short game time was invaluable and couldn't believe how simple some shots can be.

Excited to make progress and work through some difficult changes.

It was also great meeting some WRX'ers.

Thanks Monte!

Ryan is nitro, he's so explosive! (Obviously in jest, he's a cool customer). ;-)

And a big thanks to Ryan for getting it organized - super nice guy and obviously a heck of a player - probably should arrange playing with him sometime, but would hate to turn a plus handicap into an 8 and dash his amateur career just by osmosis, lol.

Being 36 I know how to cause trouble.....show up in a white belt. ???

2nd time at one of Monte's clinics. Was in KC last year but could barely participate due to a balky back. Was basically a classroom session for me, which was helpful, but...

This year was eye opening. To be able to get immediate feedback on the suggestions he made was invaluable to me after last year. I made the mistake last year of not staying in contact as I was implementing things once I got home and the back settled down.

I've been fighting the shanks for the entire spring. They disappeared with a change in balance and two small setup tweaks.

Can't wait to get to work ingraining these ideas and taking them to the course.

There were like three Ryans...but I'm assuming you're referencing the one who set this all up and stripes the bejesus out of the ball.

And speaking of a stripe show...Monte pussed out and only hit his driver 396 today. (sarcasm font) There are probably 10-15 range balls that are gone forever as they exited the range, crossed #10 fairway and ended up in the brush.

Ridiculous.

Yeah, it was sick how far those drives were flying.

New X3 has lots of improvements. Not the least of which it now gives pitching and putting data.

You Chicago people get all the luck. You got first dibs on Flightscope Forster time around.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

I don't know. I think it makes those of us at Boston the lucky ones - the second time using a new toy at the clinics is always a lot smoother then the first :-)

Thanks Parmark for your organizing efforts...Prairie Landing was a great venue. I wish I could have played on Monday...maybe next year I'll be able do the three day instead of the two day. I came away from the clinic with a good idea of what my major swing flaw is so now I know what I need to work on. I definitely liked the short game thoughts, but the putting stuff was like a light bulb going off in my head.

Incidentally, watching Monte hit with the flight scope was pretty amazing...he was getting 129 club speed, and ball speed I think was 186 I think? Anyway, it was pretty amazing. The clinic was definitely worth it for me.

Thanks Mark and Monte. Lots of great stuff and the facility was great. Very happy with the swing change I worked on with Monte. The only thing that scares me is it really doesn't feel horrible or terrible like it's suppose to!!

Swing from about a month ago.....

Swing after Monte's clinic. Downswing path definitely 1000 times better in my opinion.

Keep your fingers crossed - weather looks like it's going to be good for Boston - but hot so bring plenty of water.

Monte told me I’m not allowed to come to the Boston clinic because every time I do it rains.

...and because you’re a bad influence. Everyone will want new clubs.

How else are they supposed to get better?

By learning how to increase lag and maintaining it through impact?

But if he came, we wouldn't need to get new clubs, we could just get his 'has-beens' instead. Virtually new but at a much better cost :-)
