Game improvement iron blade wide and long?

Hello gents

Trying to get some ideas on a game improvement iron, not sgi, that has a blade that is wide and longer in length.

Something that does not have a large offset or thick sole.

I have tried nearly everything, but cannot find something to suit.

As odd as it may seem, I recently tried a very old PowerBilt tps 6.0.

Apart from the obvious distance control, it seemed to suit my game.

Any thoughts on something new that has a similar blade?

Maltby MMB-17 comes to mind or in you dont mind low offset cavity back the TE Forged. I have built up demos in both and actually preferred the TE over the MMB.

Don’t know if you like older models. You can find gorgeous Mizuno mp 57s for nothing. It’s the longest mp iron with good forgiveness

Check out the Wishon Sterlings. You can build them up in a non SL fashion I believe. They're roughly AP2 in width and top line but have a longer blade length.

Yep, Bridgestone J40 DPC if you can find a set. Took mine out yesterday after playing my CB57 half set the last few weeks....I forgot just how forgiving those Bridgestones are while providing a super thin top line for a GI club and blade-like offsets.

I just started gaming Wilson F5 irons. They’re a player/GI crossover, and seem close to your description.

 

I also like these irons since the lofts are not jacked up.

Wilson C300 forged.

The Ping G700 are classified as a GI iron. The sole is not as deep as most SGI clubs, yet the blade length is long.

Bridgestone J15 DPF, surprisingly although it’s supposed to more forgiving than the J15 CB it has a noticeably narrower sole with the longer/wider head you’re looking for.

Any thoughts or comparisons?

Also , traditionally always had a 4 to pw, but now thinking of doing away with the 4 and using a hybrid?

I've ditched the 4 iron, which is my set was 23 or 24*, and I have replaced with a second hybrid, which is 25*.

 

Money for me with the right shaft.
