Caps need a few bounces to go their way. And after 1 game they can make adjustments. They will definitely win game #2. Their drive and determination will get them thru this series.

I felt like MAF let in a couple stinkers, honestly. They had their bounces in that game, and still let in 5 (and an empty netter).

Vegas is 3 wins away from the Cup...MAF 3 wins away from averaging a Ring every 3.5 seasons. That's incredibly good for a goalie in the Modern Era.

Again, I am disappointed in the league's response to the Wilson hit. The unwritten code in all sports is to respect your opponents as peers. The goal should never be to injure an opponent, but he doesn't seem to get it. I am all for hard hits and being an intimidating force on the ice, but his chicanery and continued use of force against players after the puck is gone or going for the head has got to be dealt with.

I hope the league reconsiders and forces him to sit out the remainder of the series so hockey players can play hockey.

And as if I weren't already wanting the Knights to win, I definitely do now.

Somebody on NHL Network said the hit was totally clean (I think it was Kevin Weekes). I felt like the hit was dirtier than the Stevens on Lindros hit (I always use that hit for analogies), but Weekes said something about 1.something seconds or something, and that the hit was within a certain time between last touch of the puck.

It didn't seem too legal, and while a ref can't call intent, I think the intent was plain to see. That is his MO and just like Matt Cooke got 20 games years ago, that is what I think should be happening here. It is disrespectful in my eyes. He certainly walks a fine line, and will they stop it before he seriously injures someone? I doubt it, and it is a black mark on the game. But this is all just my opinion.

How many players does Wilson have to take out on 'iffy' (dirty) hits before someone finally steps in?

Wennburg, Duomolin, Aston-Reece, and now taking a run on Marchessault. All of these hits were cheap, dirty and dangerous. Even worse yet, 3 of the 4 hits didn't even get a hearing.

Those are also just from this year's playoffs. Go back and look and look at some of the hits Wilson has thrown out there since he's been in the league. His intent is to just annihilate guys on the ice. The NHL seems to let him slide nearly every time.

I have a different take on the hit. It was clean. Shoulder was down but it was late. It was exactly like Scott Stevens hit on Paul Kariya in 2003 SC final. He destroyed Kariya on a clean hit but very late IMO.

What the NHL has to do is define the rule better to stop these late hits. Marchessault should've known better than to admire his pass. I'm more pissed at the refs for not calling Reaves for cross-checking Carlson before he scored his goal. If that's not cross-checking I don't know what is.

I respectfully disagree. While yes, if the hit were done within the appropriate time it would be clean, bc it was late (again in my opinion) it becomes a dirty hit. To lower a shoulder on a player who has relaxed and isn’t looking is on the line to dirty.

Milbury agreed with you on the cross check. The front of the net is such a horrible place. What’s good? What’s bad? It changes by the second. I agree he completely gained an advantage and it could/ should be called.

I have never liked Ovechkin. Amazing player, but he has always charged and leaves his feet hitting opponents high. So this Tom Wilson saga makes it easier for me to root for anyone but Washington. It will be a good series though.

Wilson said some stuff post game like 'I play aggressive, that's my job, blah blah..' But what he does is look for places to put his shoulder into someone's head when they are not looking or not in puck possession. If he keeps it up he's going to really hurt someone, actually didn't he break Reece's jaw?, so I hope someone takes out his knees and he has to get a job at WalMart.

Yeah Reaves cross-checked before his goal, but that's just net chatter, it's up to the refs to call but at least it doesn't cost a player their career.

^^^That stop was incredible and lucky. If Neal had elevated the puck just a bit - goal!

That was Alex Tuch.

Neal, Tuch, Reaves, Schmidt, and of course March and Karlsson, and a few I can't recall right now, it doesn't matter. They are all pretty much clones. They all skate hard and pass well and find the open spots and have great vision and hit when they have to. Plug and play baby!

Reaves is a goon. The only reason it looks like he is playing well is that this team is so stacked. He’d be in the press box if he was on any other team that made the playoffs.

My dad died a few days ago so it's been hard to watch. I am surprised that Vegas is down. Still much series left to play though.

Joe, my sincerest condolences to you on the loss of your father.

I'm also very surprised that Vegas is down. First time they've fallen behind in a series. Now we'll see what they're made of. I think the next game is the series. Whoever wins game 4 will win the SC.

So sorry for your loss Joe. Maybe watch some hockey to ease the pain. Man the caps look like a different team lately. I wish healing and recovery for you and your family and godspeed for your dad.

Ovi hanging out in the left circle like always. That's his sniper's nest. I don't understand why opposing teams don't pull their D formations a little further over in that direction to cover him better. Yeah you'll give up some on the strong side but you gotta go where the threats are. It's the same in basketball - you double up Durant when he gets the ball and make the other guys beat you (which the Cavs are not doing).

Anyways congrats to the big Ape, I mean big Eight. He really did play his heart out.

Love that Ovi finally won a cup. He definitely deserved it.
