Bourbon

The problem is that beer can be made in less than 2 months...good bourbon, not so much. Hopefully the distilleries are taking note and increasing production like you said though.

well....if you're ever in Texas you could very well find some on the shelf for retail.

Happily confirmed.

There is no shortage of Weller Special Reserve, Antique 107 or the 12 year in the central Texas market

Well then...any of my Texan brotheren feel like shipping a bottle? ;) PM me

+1 ?

Hey all! Just noticed this thread. Didn't read any of it....

Just started to start drinking more bourbon. Jack is too rough for me. Been drinking Jim, Bulleit, and Knob Creek 120 with just a splash of ginger ale to take the edge off. The Bulleit rye is my favorite so far. I'll go back and read this thread....

Cheers!

Is Weller Reserve at $32 a good buy?

That depends on size of bottle. A 750 ml retails for around $20. A 1.75 L retails in the $35 range. So if it is a big bottle, yes good deal. A 750 ml then it is overpriced. However, lots of people think it is worthy of an over retail price. In Kentucky, while the Antique and the 12 are becoming like unicorns, the Special Reserve is readily available at retail price. I haven’t had to worry about paying extra for SR. It is a good bourbon. Everyone has a different price for what they are willing to pay. If you buy it I don’t think you’ll regret it.

SR is going for about $50 in Michigan for a regular bottle ?

Depends on your taste buds. I like sweet bourbons so wheaters are perfect for my tastes.

That’s personal opinion. I think it is a great bourbon. I’m a fan of wheated bourbons and SR is one of the best affordable wheated out there. I think you will enjoy it if you decide to pick it up.

Visited Bourbon Heaven last night while in Fayetteville AR....Vault. Best Bourbon Bar I have been too.

They had everything you could want from $10 pours to $350 pours for Taylor Tornado edition.

They probably had 200-300 different bottles.

They guy new his stuff too. As everyone has stated Weller next to Pappy any day. He said Weller 12 could stand next to Pappy 20 and you could tell a difference.

Headed back tonight.

Also found a new Bourbon does anyone have any experience with this? Worth a bottle?

Is Black Maple Hill hard to find?

The new BMH in the 'squat' bottles is garbage made in oregon, riding a train set by the previous business owner who sold actual good sourced bourbon.

If it looks like this, buy it:

No. it should be $19.99.

I would pass on the yippi Ki yay, as its not my thing. It's a barrel-finished manhattan type whiskey, it's weird. you may want to try it, first.

And no, weller 12 does not 'beat' Pappy 20 year. Weller 12 is, however, the exact same thing as 12-year Van Winkle 'Lot B'. The only difference is Julian picks the barrels that go into Lot B, and the rest are dumped and bottled as Weller 12.

The 15 year, 20 year, and 23 year, are completely different animals and are like nothing else on the market - though they are all nowhere near as good as the whiskey that made them famous, which is now all gone.

Bourbonite checking in here. Read the last few pages.

One of the things that I found funny reading is the “drought” of certain bourbons in some areas. Some people would love to get their hands on things that are plentiful & sitting in other areas due to distribution. Example... I’d love to snag a bottle of Old Fitz for my collection, but can’t find it here in the south. Where as Blanton’s & Weller (excluding 12) can be found fairly easy if you do a little searching around me.

Anyways...looking forward to chatting with you guys. I’m in Missouri visiting family. You can be certain I’ll be visiting a few stores looking for something interesting. ?

Neither of them are worth more than retail. Theyre mid-level bourbons, dont put them on a pedestal.

OWA 107 should be like $22.99 and W12 $29.99
