What's the best of the "direct to consumer" golf balls?

I've tried the Vice sampler pack so far. I loved the Pro and Pro+ (couldn't do the matte on the soft), but unfortunately had some wild shots and lost them rather quickly. Luckily, they're cheaper than most balls. Trying to decide what other brands I want to test this season - I've heard good things about Cut and Snell. Any other standouts?

Vice feels too hard for me. So does Cut.. Among those, I prefer Snell Black.

I've been testing Vice and Cut balls. I prefer the Vice balls. The ksig is a good ball but I don't like the 3 piece. I haven't played the others.

I can't tell much a difference here between Pro and Pro+, but I think the Pro+ is theoretically supposed to spin a touch more around the greens. Both spin well.

Just curious.. do you like chrome soft?

The Vice Pro Soft is nothing like the Chrome Soft. Maybe somewhat similar the the CSx but the Vice is firmer than both and launches higher than both. I like all 3 balls though and could play any of them. Well I guess I do.

Can anyone tell me why all these direct to customer balls have a really noticeable gap between the two sides of the ball?

You don't really notice this on premium balls besides Taylormade TP5/x, but does it have any affect on the ball flight?

It’s the seam and it’s just how they’re made. I can’t say it doesn’t have any affect on flight but I’d say it would be very minimal.

I find chromesoft feeling very unpleasant. It's not empty and it's not full or soft at all for me.

I know it's personal preference but I was trying to see if there's correlation.. because I saw number of chromesoft lovers that like Ksig3 as well as vice pro soft.. I hate all 3. Lol.

Good thing not all share same preference. ;)

Yeah, yet Titleist, Srixon, Bridgestone, and Callaway balls all seem to be almost 99% seamless. To me it throws me off when I look down and see it, like I almost have the tee the ball up a certain way to keep it from slicing or hooking.

Interesting, I hadn’t noticed that but just went and checked. Grabbed a Snell Black, Snell Red, and Pro V1. Of those only the Snell MTB Black has a visible seam. The Pro V1 and the Snell MTB Red did not. I’ve heard the Red has a different type of cover than the Black, so must be part of the reason there.

Hard to define "best". I think Snell is the only one with any real ball R&D, I could be wrong but I believe all the others are just selling you a lifestyle brand and buying balls from overseas that they slapped their logo on. Many are still very good though. I think Snell will outlast the other brands but I currently like Cut the best (even tho they are going to discontinue the Cut White which I love).
