Aldila Rogue 125 MSI...still a top dog?

IH823PUTTIH823PUTT Members Posts: 674 ✭✭
Hi All,

I switched to the Rogue 125 shafts mid 2015...a 60x in the driver and 70x in the 3 wood. They're the Titleist "model", however.

My question is this...

Has technology begun to pass these by? I'm still having good success with them, but they seem to have fallen out of favour at least on golfwrx.

Please enlighten me, or if anyone has suggestions as to a better performing replacement I'm all ears image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Thanks.

I'll give you the long winded technical answer....

    NOPE

OK...Guess I shouldn't leave it at just that...

I've had the 915FD in the bag since the day it came out...

NEVER hit a 3 wood that long off the tee before (tried other shafts as well)

Off the turf is great as well...

Now fast forward to a month ago or so...

Demo'd the 917 D2 in all the offerings we had on our demo cart..

    TERRIBLE!!!

Threw in the Silver out of a left over 915 & it was all over!!

I also build an SLDR for one of the staff members at the course who is pretty long...

He said he gained about 15 yards with the combo...

So I wouldn't say it's the "latest and greatest"

But by no means are the Rogue line getting passed by

    Hope that helps?

not if it's working for your game. by the looks of your handicap, i think you know what you need to play with. I never had the 125 but have the 110 (non-tour) Silver in my 915D2 and the Black in both 915F and 915H. hit them really well. can't go off what's trending on WRX.

I just put the Silver 125 msi 60 Tour X on my SLDR TP 10.5* and OMG!!!!, it kicked my RFX out of the bag...long, baby fade, low spinning boring flight, and best of all it doesn't feel boardy at all, I thought the Diamana WB D+ was a great shaft (which it is) but this one is just that much better...

Just remember, if you find a great shaft that matches your swing, then it will never go out of style. Just look at Henrik Stenson still playing the Graffaloy Blue shaft; he could have any shaft in the world, test them all, and yet he is playing a shaft that is 10-15 years old, despite all the technical advances in shaft materials and manufacturing. I know this is blasphemy here, but if you find a shaft that really works for you, DON'T REPLACE IT.

Agree. Figure out the profile that works for your swing and stay within that.

Awful light for a 3 wood! Generally speaking if your driver shaft is 60 grams then the 3 wood should be 10-15 heavier IMO

It’s all about your approach....I have seen some great players here in Japan with 70 gram shafts in their drivers and 60 gram shafts in their 3 woods...the 60 gram shaft induced launch in their 3 woods.

I have played a 60 gram rip Alpha in a 4 wood and it launched quite well and remained stable...you should be ok with the Rogue 60 in your 3 wood.

Mine just showed up. Been bouncing around shafts and keep coming back to the rogues so figured I'd try it.

Seem to favor the blacks though so also keeping my eyes open for a 60s 110

Never leaving this bend profile in my woods. Love my 125 Silver. Didn't specifically need the 125, but got a deal on it so went with it. I am certain there are many other shafts with the same profile that would work. Like some of the Ping Tour shafts, Graphite Design, etc. but will ride along with this shaft as long as I can. The rogue profiles really suit a lot of people, and I play them from Driver up to 4h.
