Anyone else use their bag brand as a tiebreaker for new club purchases?

I totally get this and most of the time feel the same way.... has to be at least 1 club in there, but for some reason, Ping bags can pull it off. I used my all black Ping 4 series today and realized after that I had zero of my Ping clubs in it.... first time this has never bothered me..LOL

I would love a neutral bag, but I hate that the Sun Mountains have the leg mechanism on the outside... it makes for a less than perfect fit on the clicgear for me.... I may look into a Jones stand bag this summer to kill these OCD tendencies once and for all.....

Who am I kidding.... that will never last either.

Same here. Sun Mountain so I'm safe. But also a Hoofer for when I walk. No Ping clubs. But the bag is an awesome color combo and has our club logo on it, so I can rationalize it away.

OP, you are not alone!

Absolutely for me. For whatever reason it feels wrong to have a branded golf bag that doesn’t mostly match my clubs. I have a nice titleist stand bag that I can’t get myself to use since I sold my ap2’s. The coolest little bag I own, a mizuno scratch sac, is on hold since I went from mizuno irons to taylormade p790s. I’m going with a jones bag now.

I have difficulty buying a bag if I don't own a club from that OEM.

It's my great shame. I admit it

I have a Callaway and Ping bag now

Exactly why I use a sun mountain bag... Equipment agnostic.

I’m all about OCD but I consider the Hoofer the standard by which all others are measured. Others have certainly caught up over the years but to me a PING Hoofer is still considered “neutral” in my mind... And in my mind that’s saying a lot. LOL

Not a Ping club in sight in The Hoofer!

As a golfer who carries 99% of the time I say "Hoofer forever!" no matter what clubs are in there. And yes - it contains an old Anser2, so I'll say "Anser 2 forever!" as well. Performance first.

I get it. Sun Mountain bag for me right now as well.

But my "methodology" is slightly different.

So long as I have a single club from the manufacturer in play at the time of purchase, it's OK for me to continue using/wearing it even if I take the club out of play.

Hats especially. Shirts and pants ? Almost never buy a "club branded" shirt* or pair of pants.

So if I was tempted to buy a Titleist bag (or hat) and I have a Titleist club in the bag, it would be OK to still use the Titleist bag/hat even IF I no longer have a Titleist club in the bag.

I DO have a few Ping shirts that I bought when I first got my G20s in 2012 and just like the other stuff, I am "permitted" to wear a Ping shirt even though at the moment I have NO PIng clubs in the bag. But I try not to.

Bluntly Hell no I have never worried about it--- Front line bag (in signature) Ping Hoofer and not a Ping club in it

Vintage bag Old Power Bilt orange mini staff leather usually not a Power Bilt club in it except sometimes a driver.

I guess sometimes I come close with my Titleist Mini Staff IF I carry my Santa Fe instead of a 8802. Like I said it does not matter to me. To be honest on my display bag which is a Macgregor Green and tartan mini staff I do have a full set of 1962 FC-4000 woods and irons with an Ironmaster putter

I have a black red titleist bag, but no titleist clubs. It bugs me, but oh well. I do have a blue mizuno umbrella which clashes but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in the world who cares. At least the umbrella matches my irons and wedges! I didn't like any of the mizuno bags I saw when I shopped for a new bag.

Great question because bags should stick around awhile imo. Hoing clubs is natural and can be done discretely while swapping new bags is too flashy. My sensibilities demand a brand neutral bag. I have had a Sun mountain bag forever that is beat to hell. The Ben Hogan bags look great and I'm playing hogan irons at present so no conflict there. To boot, since Hogan is such a mystical omnipresent figure in golf (while the brand itself is under the radar) I could handle different irons in the bag. I am now clear to buy a new golf bag and eventually new irons. Thanks!!!

I love my Titleist Staff stand bag so much that I went and purchased the 818 H2 3H because the balance was way off. I had too much Ping in there. Now I feel like I need to get all the new Titleist woods as well.

Titleist bag for years, even going back to when we were younger and everyone wanted to use a staff bag.

Easy with Titleist.....all you have to do is play the ball and you are good.....clubs can be agnostic.

I use an old school vintage Bennington bag, yeah its a cart bag, and good sized, but I can say I have had it for 20 years, indestructible. Gets tossed into the pick up truck, protects everything.

Funny, the only bag I ever had that didn't match either woods or irons was a ping hoofer bag. Heck, I think those original hoofers did more for brand awareness for ping than anything other than the anser or ping eye2 irons.

Now? Owned a set of Wilson irons in the early 2000s so I naturally had to get a nice looking Wilson staff bag. Then bought mp33 irons but went to tm woods so I got a tm bag. Now have a mizuno staff bag and would be hard pressed to play anything g other than mizuno irons.
