186 pin right front all carry over water...rest of group waiting as they were playing forward tees. They all left after the round too...would have had to buy Coke or Sprite! Hit 6 iron just past hole rolled back about three feet into the hole. Ball is still in my sock drawer...golf shop wanted $100+ for frame & pic.

A couple weeks ago I hit a 7 iron dead straight about 20 feet right of the pin. It jumped to the left when it hit and into the shadow. Got a good feeling when I got to the green and didn't see my ball. I walked up to the cup and looked in, can then told my buddy his 40 foot birdy put was good. He just smiled and picked up his ball and walked off the green.

I had lost the first seven skins but that one was worth 6.

Was just last night. Was filling in on league night for a friend. Hadn't played in maybe a month. Was the first one off the tee and my very first swing of the night. 148 yards hit my 9 iron. Was looking really good straight at it. Bounced once and disappeared. Was really just in shock.

It was the 13th hole of a "tryout" round for my college team. 160 yds and a smooth 8 iron. Ball starts slightly right and then draws back onto the flag. I saw it hit the green, then a second later it disappeared. Started yelling and going crazy and had the group in front of me run onto the green to confirm it was a hole in one. What an awesome moment.

Got off of work at 5. Course across the street. Pro let me go off the back since the front was full. 10th hole, par 3 over water 152 yards front pin. Normally a 9 iron but my first hole so I thought easy 8....it maybe flew 145 and I lost sight of it since I was hitting it straight into the sun. I get to the green and it's in the cup.

I was playing solo. :(

Hitting a hole in one while I'm playing solo is literally one of my worst fears as a golfer.

Almost had my first last night, 190 yards playing about 5 yards uphill. Between clubs either hard 6 or soft 5. Hit the soft five. Low with about 5 yards of draw. Hits the green about 2 yards short of the flag and about 3 foot right. Kicks left towards the flag hits the pin softly, but ends up about 3 inches away. Devastated. The pin was one of the larger diameter wooden ones and therefore it doesn't "give" as much when hit. If it was a standard pin I think it gives enough when hit that the ball drops in the hole.

My 3rd year of playing golf. Visiting family and decided to try this shorter all par 3-4 course

Dynacast rental set. 8 iron from about 143 yards away Aim for the pin Trying this uncomfortable grip which my right pinkie rode on top of my left forefinger. Later I would know as a Vardon grip and it's was like I could see the exactly trajectory before I swing and after I swing the ball went exactly where I wanted it. Landed few feet from the pin and then rolled and disappeared. The couple that I was playing with said "I think it's in the hole". I didn't want to get my hopes to high so I said " let's just see when we walk up to the hole "

Lo and behold. It was a wonderful feeling seeing my ball inside the cup when I pull out the pin

That was over 20 years ago. Never had one since. I don't use the Vardon grip anymore as it did feel uncomfortable even that day I had hole in one I use interlock. I don't "aim" at the pin anymore from 143 yards away I just try to hit the middle of the green

Wish I could do it again

Even though I'll take a hole in one any way it comes, including silly bounces on bad shots, I'm happy that mine happened during my first round breaking 80 (obviously the hole in one helped) where I was having one of my best ball striking days. I remember making the turn and wondering about ordering a beer, then saw I had 40 on the front (at the time about as good as I had ever had) and decided to hold off.

Got to a 123 yard par 3 playing uphill probably about 135, hit what was clearly a good shot but since we couldn't see the green we had no idea. Got up to the green, saw my 2 playing partners' balls about where expected, no other balls in sight, walked up to the hole, and voila!

Flanders Valley Golf Club -- hole #5 on the red course. i had 149y, playing from the left side of the tee box to a left middle pin tucked on the downslope off the front left greenside bunker. i was playing with a kid who'd been playing for 6 months. i struck a PW pure with a bit of spin hitting just short left of the hole, taking a little hop and then spinning back right to the hole...and there it was.

i was in shock b/c after playing for 18 years i couldn't believe i finally got one. the kid i was playing with thought it was 'cool' and asked me 'how many have you had this year?'

...i told him i'd been waiting for a LONG time to get that ace. lol i bought him a few cokes after the round.

Last one was a couple of years ago on a short par 3 over water up near Boulder, Co. Green sloped back to front, with a large bunker behind the green.

I was in between clubs, so I took the longer club thinking I'd throw it behind the hole and spin it back. Hit my tee shot right over the flag, one-hopped and started coming back towards the hole. Bent down to pick up my tee and the others in my group started going crazy, yelling 'it went in!'.

I didn't even get to see it go in the hole.

I've had 5 HIO and only seen two actually go in the hole:

#1 - I actually hit one club too much on a ~150 yd par 3, skulled it, it never git higher than the flagstick, hit on the fron of the green and started rolling directly at the pin, tucked back left and over a rise. The last palce we looked for the ball was in the hole.

#2 - was a 190 yd downhill par 3 requiring a 4H from me. Far enough away and with my eyesight we knew it was close but though it was behind the pin. Turned out it was in the hole

#3 - Actually saw this one, an 8I hit just in front of the pin and hop directly into the hole.

#4 - was a par 4 on the scorecard but because of extremely wet conditions we moved up to the forward tees. Normally played a a dogleg right from there I took a 4H directly over some moderately high evergreens. Those trees actually prevented us from knowing even exactly where on the green the hole was located. Talk about pure luck!

#5 - was also an 8 I, down wind. The ball hit just a little left of the pin (6 ft maybe?), and slowly trickled right down a slope and into the hole.

First and only one so far was in a HS tournament (a long time ago). Hit what felt like an good 8 iron from 160. Saw it bounce near the hole 1 time then lost sight of it since the sun was setting behind green. Then all of a sudden we saw the guys on the next tee behind our green jumping and shouting. Best part was i had 7 witnesses to it including my coach and one of the coaches from other school in the match. It was literally white noise for a few min because i couldnt believe it actually happened. Ive been very close many times since yet we all know close doesnt count in this game.

My only hole in one was hole 16 at TPC Scottsdale Champions course(not Stadium). It was playing 212 that day and I was trying to hit a stinger to the front of the green. I ended up hitting a stinger with a little cut that hit just past the desert wash and tracked all the way to the pin.

The crazy thing is I had just taken a 9 on hole 15 which is a short par 4 "risk/reward" hole that ate me for lunch.

I have made 7 aces over the years....all good clean shots that went where they were supposed....until last week!! Number 7 was a 143 yd. downhill par 3.... I semi bladed a 9 iron that was low and left all the way...... it hit in the rough on a slope left of the green and kicked onto the green and rolled into the hole!! :taunt:

My goodness....I AM a player :swoon:

First shot of a four man best ball...172 yards, 7-iron landed about 6 feet past the hole. I turned around to walk back to my playing partners and I hear “it’s getting better...it’s getting better”. I turned around to watch it drop! Group on the 13th tee which was above the green went ecstatic and left two beers in the hole.

Ballamor Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, NJ back in 2013

12th hole - 160 from the tips dead into the wind at the time. I hit my irons very high up into the air so clubbed up to a 6 iron (normal 185 club).

Hit it about as pure as I can - slam dunked into the hole taking a nice chunk out of the side of the cup.

Spent a lot of money on drinks in Atlantic City that night.

1984, 10th at Cumberland MD CC, Downhill 150 yards, good shot, 2 bounces, in. Playing with my soon-to-be father-in law, he covered the tab at his home club. He said I turned around and my eyes were as big as dinner plates.

2016, 4 at Stoneleigh GC, Round Hill VA (my home club), cool day in March, uphill 175 yards, good 4 iron onto the blind green, high draw that was either close or over, found the ball in the hole.

2017, 17 at Hidden Creek, Reston VA in an inter-club match, 190 yards in a cool misty rain, gently hybrid, slight draw, saw a couple of bounces but I wasn't sure it was in until we got close to the green. Our opponents had never seen even one ace, they were more excited than I was.

My wife has three aces too, and I didn't see any of them.

Life is funny.. I first read this topic 2 days ago

yesterday I went playing after work at the executive course, only man in the course

last hole, 96m (105 Yards), I hit a perfect gap wedge with a little tail wind, I saw it roll half second and then going in.

Best feeling ever, I waited 18 years for it to come, right after I called my dad, I'm gonna remember it for my whole life!

moments later some odd things happened: I forgot the ball in the cup, I lost my 5w headcover in the route from the green to the parking lot ( haven't used in the last holes), I noticed I was missing the ball and ran back to the green and found the head cover

It took me good 20 mins before calming down ahahha

I also thought to call the greenkeeper to tell him I was going take the flag down as souvenir, but fortunately I resisted the temptation :blush2:

Very ugly but I have an ace :) 3 wood from 165.....hit a punch shot from an elevated tee......was coming in way to hot and hit a huge mound in front of green and then headed toward the pin going 100 mph. Hit the pin and dropped in!

Just like I drew it up :)

A 7 hybrid from 154 yards, slight draw. Landed 8-10 feet from the pin. One of our foursome said it went in the hole. I looked thru my rangefinder, no ball visible on the green. Got to the hole, and there it was!
