Red Sky Fazio

TPC Sawgrass

Red Sky Norman

Hualalai

Wolf Creek

Trump National Doral

We-ko-pa Saguaro

Pinehurst #2

Pasatiempo

Makai GC

Wow Pasatiempo and Pinehurst so low!

Have you played Pasatiempo ????.....that place is talked about like a golf Mecca bu in reality it is a dump !!!! I wouldn't rank it in the top 40 in CA in terms of playing conditions.

* Sorry but ive been there 5 times over the last 3 years and each time it gets worse and each time the pro shop tells me that I caught the course at a bad time......I doubt it ever has a good time......

So why keep going back as I'm assuming you are paying?

I played it in 2016 as part of a larger SF trip and was great. The architecture is genius Mackenzie, you have to forget about the homes around the course, although I admit it takes away from it. I thought the course was in very good shape as well, not immaculate but definitely above average. Not long, but greens are very tough.

I have played Pinehurst as well after the C&C renovation and it was awesome!

So respectfully disagree.

Italics are ones on the list over the next 12 months. From playing all of these I can tell I am not a Donald Ross fan. Just played Pinehurst #2, not a huge fan. After Pebble I would say my favorites are Dormie Club and Bethpage.

I'll do the public list since I've at least played 6 of those:

8. Bethpage Black - Farmingdale, NY

30. Quarry at Giants Ridge - Biwabik, MN

48. Wolf Creek - Mesquite, NV

57. Wilderness at Fortune Bay - Tower, MN

58. Classic at Madden's Resort - Brainerd, MN

69. Troy Burne - Hudson, WI

My order would go

1. Bethpage

2. Wolf Creek

3. Wilderness

4. Quarry

5. Troy Burne

6. The Classic

Conestoga isn't bad, but there are a few too many meh holes on the back nine. Sand Hollow has a wonderful stretch on the back nine along the valley, but the front nine is a real snoozer. Now, take the front nine from Contestoga, and pair it with Sand Hollow's back nine, and I think you have a winner.

You don't think one of the allure of a great course is it's ability to get us to come back and play it over and over? I think I've skipped wolf creek every chance I had when I'm in the area. I head straight to sand hollow and just enjoy my stay there.

I'd even argue the paiute courses in vegas is 100x better than wolf creek.

'Just got back from central Wisconsin. I added Sentry World (34) to the list. The course is a very nice parkland layout with superb conditioning, but it's very overrated at #34. I'd probably rank it in the bottom 20 of the list. I also played Sand Valley and Mammoth Dunes, and I expect to see both on the '19-'20 list next year.

Played 92, 48, 88

Have all the top 26 on every list done. Started this in 1976. Amazed at how many in the second 100 used to be in the top 100 and have moved out never hear about anymore.

The top 26 over the year of the GD lists you mean? That is an unusual even number to have. It is just by happenstance or are you striving for something?
