Glove Lifespan

Recommended Posts

About how long does everyone get from their gloves? Im due for new one after maybe 5-7 full rounds, which is an estimate, as I play a lot of 9 hole rounds after work. I keep saying I will stock up, but never due and end up playing a worn out glove for a round or two before getting to the store.

Also, I never take mine off the entire round. Putting, driving the cart, etc. Mostly from laziness but if I take it off to putt, come the next hole I will have driven the ball and forgot to put it back on so I have come to just leaving it on which I know is not the norm.

Probably around 10-20 rounds/range trips combined.

I keep a spare 'non tour' glove in my bag for emergencies, but only really use the nice cabretta leather gloves to play and practice in.

During hot n humid weather use 2 gloves, switchem out every 3-4 holes. Rest of the year switch em out every 9.

Carry 2 extra in the bag. Clean grips n gloves, no excuses.

Atlanta resident here. This guy knows whats up. Sometimes even make it a 3 glove rotation in the low country!

Thanks! Now I just need those Callaways I like to go on sale for 3 for $30 again!

Are you referring to the xspann? Another cool golf glove I've found is the Asher Deathgrip. I wish they made it without the decal though.

I can’t win. Switched to some grips that are easy on gloves and found a model (Callaway Tour Authentic) that feels great and does not stretch out of shape.

So now it’s summer and after 4 rounds the glove is physically perfect. No wear at all on thumb or palm, still fits perfectly. But it is permanently dark stained and crusty from 12+ hours worth of sweat. Just nasty.

I gotta keep using it, too expensive to discard just because it looks gross.

I think it was the X-Tech that I like and use. Comes in a white/black/green color with some mesh on the back of the hand to help with keeping you cool.

Total use per glove for me is anywhere from 10-15 "rounds" which include practice, etc. The fingers at the tips start to really harden and crinkle up on me around use #15 or so that's when I change out. 15 uses for me is anywhere from 4-6 weeks depending on weather.

My FJ Rain gloves last forever though. Used one Sunday that I got last November.. Granted I don't use them a ton. Only when it's raining (obviously) or it's mega humid out.

My favorite glove right now is the Taylormade TP but I'm thinking about trying out some Vice Pro gloves because they are a little less expensive. Whoever last few times I've gotten lucky and ordered a bunch of TM gloves during the eBay sales. I just got 3 new gloves so I should be good til end of summer.

The answer is dependent on your grips and how much your hands sweat. And if you are wearing the right size cause wearing the wrong size will wear them out quick. I also think gloves are better made now, so they are lasting longer from that too.

- I used to play GP Victory Cord grips. The glove would be useless after about 7 rounds. Cord is a glove killer.

- I switched to Lamkin Crosslines about 8 years ago. The gloves would go about 15 rounds.

- Then I switched to Pure Pro grips 2 years ago and my glove typically go 25 rounds. But I ended up with some anomaly and I've used the same Footjoy glove for a year now. Probably has 70 rounds and a ton of range sessions. I keep waiting for it to rip or get slick. But it's still ticking.

I don’t play a whole lot, about 12 full rounds a year with a handful of 9ers mixed in, so I usually play a full season before changing out my gloves. I should take better care of them as I usually keep them in my bag which sits in the car more than it should in the summer heat. Performance wise I should change them out at least once or twice during the course of a calendar year but I get lazy. Ive gotten a bit better about rotating between gloves in the course of a round but usually one is still pretty worn.
