Authenticity of Miura wedges

Can anyone help fill me in on verifying the authenticity of Miura wedges? Should there be serial numbers? The hose of the wedge says genuine, shafts have no marking except the True temper stamp, the seller states they are the S300 shaft.

As long as it says "Genuine" on the hose, you should be good (the fakes usually say "Geniune" or "Jenuine"). Just don't pay with Friends and Family.

There's no definitive "tell" to any counterfeit product generally, besides the well known and obvious ones. You have to share pictures and info of a particular example, or else you're just rolling the dice.

Your best bet if you don't want to/ care to put in the effort of doing your diligence for every product you're looking at and and every seller you're considering - buy from a reputable seller, consider buying new, and never take a chance on "too good to be true".

They’re for sale through local Craigslist. I am meeting the seller Wednesday at a local course to get a look at them. I have a buddy who has a set, I’ll take a look at his to get a better idea of what to look for. I appreciate the help!

Why not just share the pictures here? If they’re decent pictures you’ll have your answer in minutes. If they’re not decent pictures, you’ll be given the good advice to get better pictures.

Under the circumstances where someone inspects something in person it is highly unlikely they are fake.

Now online they might try to get one over on you.

And just FYI Miura have a dull shine to them

And a very solid sound if you tap them. A very pure metal, ground by mr. Miura or his son themselves.

Suggesting that Craigslist (or sites like it) is safer from counterfeits because the transaction is face-to-face is absolutely horrible advice. In this situation and for anyone reading who may encounter something similar in the future.

It’s not really advice , it is common sense . Manufacturers and dealers of fake products usually hide within the safe confines of the internet.

Why? You know where the guy lives and you could contact the local authorities, not to mention state authorities.

You have to think in common sense here, if someone is not being shady and they are being open with you. Then they more than likely are being honest .

If they will not answer your emails or texts then you have clues that this person is not to be trusted.

So hmmm interesting...

#1 all Miura wedges made after 2010 should have a tiny “SL†after the “Miuraâ€

So either those are fake or non confirming according to the USGA 2010 rule

In 2010 the USGA ruled that players were having a too easy time getting out of the rough. It was not penalizing them enough. So they remade wedge specifications.

After this Miura added the “SLâ€

“ = quotes

Look on eBay you can see examples

It's terrible advice and garbage common sense. You're operating under the assumption that every single counterfeit club being sold out there is being done knowingly by the producer or someone close to them. If you want to assume that internet flea markets such as Craigslist, Offer Up, etc. are populated with upright citizens selling 100% authentic product purchased only from authorized retailers, that's on you. To everyone else out there, those sites are no more safe than eBay and such. Use just as much caution.

Seems like you have an axe to grind. You can be scared of the world if you like. I have had great success buying used items.

Stand up on your couch and yell into the golf forum if it makes you feel better. Lol

To the OP, I would avoid those miuras .

BB28... Your information is partly correct. Miura put the SL stamp primarily on models that pre-dated the score lines rule to denote conformity (vs unstamped, older, non-conforming versions). This includes Tournament Blades, Baby Blades (formerly stamped similarly to TB prior to taking in the 1957 moniker), and several other models. More recently introduced models never had the SL stamp because there were no older versions that might establish confusion. So, MB001, MC-501, Tour Wedge, the New Wedge Series (subject of the OP’s question), and several others never had the SL stamp (see below for examples). The wedges pictured by the OP look real to me.

So I have 4 wedges built by usher golf.. 46,52,56,60..

Buy from a builder.. I bought used and was not happy..

As for real and fake hit one of your friends and then hit theirs.. the feel should be identical..

If the faces are beat up just buy new.. I bought 2 and then 1 and 1 in last 3 years.. they are 210 shipped anyway you shaft them..

That’s really not a bad deal at all. How do the Miura wedges perform versus off the rack from your experience? What did you notice?

If you don’t mind answering. I use Cleveland RTx 2.0 atm

I will never use another wedge.. so hard to explain, but the feel is fantastic! I use k grind on 52,56,60 my 46 is basically a c grind..

They are so smooth.. buy one and give it a try..if you dont like it they are easy to sell. You will sell your Clevelands and wish you had the cash for the baby blades
