Well on shuttle back from the course. Wanted to thank everyone for your input, was one of the best days ever as a dad! What a great event to spend with my two girls.

And today was perfect with clear blue skies, few patrons, and players signing lots of autographs coming off of 18.

Good for you. Too bad I didn't see this earlier, I would have given you the tickets that are just rotting on my hotel room desk.

Take them and buy them each a US Open flag to get autographs on. They will love that.

Yep, that is actually my exact plan. Seems they now require autograph signing only at clubhouse after each practice round, which I think will actually make it a bit easier than having to make sure you catch each somewhere out on the course.

I'm sure they will sign in between holes too. Most of them anyways. Tiger, Phil, and Rickie always sign after their rounds though.

Highly less likely even during practice rounds. Remember this is still a major.

Have been watching and observing pros since mid 90s inside the ropes. Most pros have a routine how they sign. Many sign after finishing a hole. A smaller amount sign after the tee shot esp in pro-am.

Rarely do most sign @driving range or putting green unless before starting or ending.

@clubhouse before or after is low change and busiest area.

I am toying with idea of taking my 6 and 9 year old girls to US Open practice round. They both love golf and want to go. Its a bit of a process to get there due to proximity on LI, plus would have to take them out of school for the day. I haven't been to a practice round since last one at Bethpage. I remember thinking how great it was due to the access to players and how laid back they are compared to tournament days. My girls are not going to be able to walk the entire grounds all day either. Very curious on any thoughts....

Take the LIRR. Train will temporarily stop literally next to the course boundry.

Here's the schedule and stops.

Ok isn't cheap, but 42.50rt from nyc but you won't have to deal w/ hassles of traffic, accidents, LIE and parking which is probably at least $20. I hear general parking is about 20mi away or 30min via shuttle. Glad again to be in the Vol lot 1 town over.

This map should help you get an idea of the layout. Fyi, clubhouse in center is basically highest pt on the course.

Rd to South is Montauk Highway. Other line next to it is the LIRR.

Practice rounds are always the best for kids as all jrs under 18 get free ticket w/ paid adult.

***Policy just changed the other week***

If kids want autographs or actually get up close definitely choose the practice day.

Usually after leaving the green or sometimes after the tee shot depending on the player. Bring your own sharpie and item to sign. The tournament hat and pin flags are always popular.

You'ld better be a dew sweeper if you want El Tigre. He's usually gone by 9ish.

Moving around and lines are far shorter or non-existent during practice days.

Otherwise, lmk which day your coming and I can give you tips where best places to go.

Will be on course inside ropes at least everyday th-sun.

Great info, thanks. So will be there Tuesday with my daughters. and then back Friday for dad’s day with the boys.

Fyi...

what not to bring.

I see Tiger has 7:18 tee time and going off back 9. Assume that means he is just planning 9 holes for the day? Would he be typically be gone after that or would he maybe hit range/putting green after? Not sure can get out there in time.

Sorry thats when he practices. Have been there @ pre-sunrise and he's already playing.

His way of avoiding the crowds.

The adults trying to cover flags with autographs, presumably to sell on eBay, were despicable.

I can't stand these dbags....pushing kids out of the way to get an autograph.

Yep, makes me so mad! There is a section literally partitioned off by putting green with sign says "Juniors" and half of it was lined up with adults, not letting kids trying to get in. It was only a small portion of the putting green, so plenty of room for them elsewhwere. Pathetic.
