Last time I was talked into playing LP...

 

Tex: No seriously, I heard LP is in great shape.

Me: No. It was hot garbage last time I played.

Tex: Seriously, it will be fine.

Me: Eh, OK.

 

(sees the way the tee boxes and fairways look)

 

Me: F you Tex, what a waste of...

 

(watches MTN launch his driver and get it stuck in a tree on the first tee)

 

Me: Nevermind, awesome day!!

 

I've been seeing commercials for LP on tv for the first time...they specifically mention good conditions so I guess we'll see.

I have to admit, I got a little tingly this morning when Soly dropped a "Trust Fund Tron" in the Mike Davis NLU pod.

Going to play Waverly Woods tomorrow or Blue Mash either around 0700....then maybe again with Tex in the afternoon. Who wants in for the AM? Haven't bought yet so let me know.

 

Open to playing places other than Mash or Waverly, I suppose. Prices there are good though for weekday mornings.

Also -- that offer is extended to 2 more people, if Bay wants to play.

 

I don't know exactly when yet. My plan is to get home around 2 day, walk the dog (30 minutes?) then drive to the course (30 minutes). For an eta of 3. Any of those times could be bumped 10 minutes in one direction or the other.

 

I'm in, also very flexible on time, takes me 25 minutes to get there so I need that much advance notice. I will get dressed and put the clubs in the car now.

It's funny, before my group teed off at Northwest for the Honeypot, our group asked the starter about playing out of the long grass. He basically said if you can find it, go play it, and was confused as to why we were asking. He had no idea about the scorecard reference until we told him.

 

I still think if you find your ball in an area where it's okay to be walking (not environmentally sensitive area) in long grass that it's okay to play.

I had an idea what the ruling was, but wasn't sure. A Google search seems to confirm what I thought. In any case, we agreed to waive the rules in the scenario, and damn ourselves all to golf he!l by doing so.

I'm not afraid to say that in a perfect world, if Ariana had to choose between Eagle and Pete, I think she's got to go with Eagle- he's way better looking, and actually funnier than Pete Davidson. Also I think he handles his liquor better than Pete.

It happened on new hole 2.

 

Sully hit his tee shot right at what appears to be the corner of the tall grass from the tee. We walk up and find there's actually a cut out beyond the corner on the line his ball was traveling, then more tall grass, then rough. I drove up a ways on his line and didn't find anything. Sully dropped where we saw it cross, but then found his original ball as he played up the hole. Here's a picture.

 

 

I'm actually not sure what ball Sully played the hole out with at that point, but given we didn't look super hard for his original, and how hard it was to find balls in the rough yesterday anyway, DC and I agreed we were fine with Sully playing his original ball with no penalty.

 

I believe the correct ruling is that he'd actually have to play the ball he dropped and put in play, with an additional 2 stroke penalty.

 

If they didn't have the dumb nebulous local rule about unmown areas, it wouldn't have been a problem. Sully would have played a provisional off the tee, and eventually been able to play his original once he got to it, with no penalty.
