Rogue Pro or AP3?

FOOTJOY16

Recommended Posts

Hello all. My game has been in a slump for a while and I’m seriously considering getting away from blades. I’m thinking about the Rogue Pros or AP3, that about as extreme as I can tolerate in looks. Any thoughts or suggestions on these irons would be appreciated.

Thanks

I hit both for fun, was not going to buy either one for the record.

In that limited time frame hitting them I liked the AP3 better. There was nothing difference wise really between them. I cant recall which one felt better but I know one did feel a tad softer at impact. Value wise Titleist will holds its value better.... if that matters to you.

Did the same thing. I personally like the looks of the AP3 more. Performance wise, they were the same. YMMV though.

the rogue pro feel better. personally the AP3 felt like crap to me - like hollow, clacky clubs.

Maybe try AP2 or similar before going too far away from a pure blade??

If you are a blade player try moving down to AP2 or X-Forged. Also forget the long irons and get the Utilities.

I got fitted into Rogue Pros and love them.

Was coming from i25/s55 combo set and after nearly 3 seasons of next to no play/practice, it was VERY apparent that I just couldn't hit them consistently anymore.

Rogue Pros are about a club longer as expected due to loft change and about 0.5'' longer shaft from where my previous sent was playing. The key for irons, like all clubs, as cliche as it sounds, is to get fit. Because the biggest difference over all is i went from Ping ZZ65 shaft to Nippon Mondus3 Tour 120 and swingweights are up to D5-D6 on the Rogue Pros. Not only did this provide the best results but it allows me to have such a better sense of where the clubhead is.

Rogue Pros have much less offset to my eye. But overall I like the look of both, but I prefer less offset. I bagged the Rogue Pros for about a month with KBS Tour V shafts. Gave up when I found a great used set of 714 CBs with recoil proto 95s. I had been trying graphite for about the past 9 months for elbow issues, was struggling a bit with some other recoil versions, decided to go back to steel, but I think I found my holy grail combo. I also had a little bit of a hard time with distance control with the Rogue Pros, might have been the head shaft combo, should have gone for a shaft with more spin. But they looked great to me, and felt pretty good for the type of club they are.

Thanks for all the replies. I checked them out at the store tonight, still not sure I'm ready to leap into that type of club. The strong lofts are something I would need to adjust for, those seem crazy strong to me.

Like a true Wrx'er i picked up a set of used CB/MB combos at the store this evening to ease the transition away from full blades. I was weak, they had a set with my specs and my favorite shafts.........................

I appreciate all the advice, I'm playing one more round with mine to see how committed I am to the blades. I honestly think once I get my swing back together, and it's getting better, it won't matter which irons I use.

After all, they are all a blade on the face.. ;)
