BlueMash must not have liked their greens...because about 5 minutes before I tee off they start sanding the green and trying to brush it in. I passed the brushing crew on the 2nd hole so 3-18 I was playing sandboxes with Toro cart tracks all over the putting surface. I thought the sand would give me more bite and played a few shots as if it would....but it seemed to do the opposite. i should have asked for a coupon/voucher after I finished.

 

As always, a few shots/blowups away from a great round, though this mornings blowups were very unusual for me so i'm still trending in the right direction and can't be totally upset. i also had 1 birdie putt left about 6 inches short, 2 birdie putts soft lip-out, and 1 eagle putt end up on the fringe of the cup. Get a few of those to go and I still have a great round despite the blow ups. Hopefully this afternoon is better at LP.

 

Edit: Also, this was fun - after I left the ball on the edge of the cup from an eagle putt I proceed to next tee box but can't find my glove. I go back to where I hit my approach shot on the previous hole and search everywhere assuming it flew off the cart. I give up and go back to the next tee-box and break out a new glove. While I'm over the ball the sun is behind me, I see something dangling between my legs....my missing glove was stuck to my a** by the velcro.

So both Waverly and Blue Mash have dumped a bunch of sand on greens recently. Why are the courses doing that? I don't remember that being an issue in past years.

 

This isn't an issue of filling aerification holes with sand. It's just dumping sand on the greens.

Don't get me wrong, Rory is the most awe-inspiring golfer I've ever watched. I will always root for him. I feel his game is more suited for birdie fests than grind-it-out par fests. The fact that he has a US Open and no Masters is mind boggling.

Course is playing PERFECT. Completely fair. I've watched 40 minutes and didn't see one "that's kinda stupid" shot. It's just hard. It'll get easier the next couple days when the wind dies down.

 

Fox coverage is so good. Lots of cool camera angles like the low one on 11.
