Hi all,

I tried searching... so is this just a version of Arccos? I'm looking at it, and I can't see anything all that different from Arccos. Anyone know what's coming?

Is that the one you have too tap your clubs too the sensors before each swing ? Accros has built in gps in the tips no need to tap clubs and no sensor hanging of bag/belt little more money though. I believe the game golf has a better social platform

Game Golf Pro is a unit you wear on your belt but the club/swing is auto-detected akin to Arccos. Best of both worlds, supposedly.

No tagging.

No need to have your phone on the course.

So far it is vaporware. Supposed to have shipped months ago but the company has been completely schtum since missing the announced intro date.

Pretty much, Game Golf required you to wear a device on your belt and tap before the shot. Arccos did not require this, however you need your phone in your pocket. The new version of GG wont require the belt/tagging before the shot. Arccos also has something coming out that is similar to a key fob that you can use rather than your phone, eliminating the need to have your phone in your pocket or you can use the apple watch. I think the biggest thing GG had over Arccos was the social media aspect of it, you could do various challenges and what not, Arccos doesnt have this type of community.

The other thing I liked about the Game Golf club sensors is that they did not need batteries.

Interesting. It also means it's non-conforming then. Unless the USGA changed a ruling? Slugs allowed if no phone?

There was an ongoing discussion about whether Arccos is legal, and it’s not. Original game golf was. Not that it matters a lot, but the changes make it seem like pro is going to be non-legal, in the way Arccos was not.

Maybe it was the phone that made it nonconforming? Memory is squishy on this.

The GG Pro operates just like original Game Golf except you don’t need to touch the club to the tag.

There’s nothing to be non-conforming. No information is provided to the golfer during play, only after the round is downloaded.

But it’s a moot point as the device seems not to actually exist.

I noticed yesterday that GameGolf finally launched their Smart Caddie feature on their mobile app. Similar to Arccos’ caddie function, it analyzes your shot history to recommend what club to play and also gives “plays like” distances considering wind, elevation chamge, etc. Messed around with it at home and it looks really promising. Will try it on the course this weekend.

A couple of screenshots.

Wind speed and direction, elevation change, actual and “plays like” distances, club/target recommendation. The blue dotted line is the target line after factoring elements.

Tapping “more” takes you to this screen, with additional details on wind, etc. You can view current conditions or forecasts at turn and 18 (“now”, +2 hrs, +4 hrs). Nice touch.

Arccos is 100% legal to use. Not sure how anybody arrived at this conclusion?

I was talking with a buddy out in SanFran who is beta testing the new Game Golf Pro device. Says it is amazing - completely seamless process, no tapping your club and no phone necessary. He said that it should be released in the next month or so.

I will bet any amount of money that the auto-detect can't distinguish between a real shot and a practice swing that takes a little turf. This thing will be inaccurate as hell and require major post round edits.

Companies need to stop trying to be cute and deliver tech that works.

Probably because the USGA ruling happened for Jan 1 2018, and only under certain conditions.
