I did a ball fitting this past weekend, and the new Prov1x won. It blew my mind. Ive been a Taylormade guy ever since the first version of the TPx, and I never saw myself playing Titleist. The new Taylormade balls have been strange for me at times. I want a high flight, but also a lot of spin from 100 yards and in. Neither Taylormade ball this year really did both for me extremely well. The ProV1x does. Guess its time to shell out some more money...

Before you do shell out some more money, give us a try. Check out this article from Golf Digest. Not sure why you'll need to pay more money for spin...

I found your ball plays great but I have one gripe. The urethane cover will not hold a sharpie mark what so ever, has this changed? Thanks, BB

After playing the Top Flite Gamer Tour this past week, it may very well surpass the Srixon Q Star in my pocket. Gone are the days of Rock-Flite. I found enjoyment from this ball from the putting surface to the tee box and everywhere in between. It also matches my budget the best compared to other urethane balls

I'm leaning more towards the TP5x. Initially, I thought they felt hard and had a very loud clicky sound at impact. As I'm going over it, I'm finding out that these balls are long. There's a guy in our group that consistently outdrives everyone else, but I'm never that far behind. Maybe 5 to 10 yards. With the TP5x, I kept walking up to his ball in the fairway. I almost hit his until he told me my ball was "up there" about 15 yards passed his. It has an even louder clicky sound with the irons, which usually means their hard, but hold greens. If you can get pass the sound, its a great ball.

Have been playing Taylormade for a while now and love the TP5x, while recently really testing the Bridgestone BX. To me the BX spun too much on longer shots but was excellent around the greens on medium to short pitches. Both have a pretty firm feel and have similar sound off the putter. After a month of testing I just can't switch over, the TP5x just fits my game and what I'm looking for in a ball on all around performance.

After testing a lot of different balls over the last months, I have concluded that the TP5 will be my gamer. Second favorite for me is the Pro V1. I have to say, now that we are having warmer weather the TP5 and Pro V1 feel nice and soft. I just give the edge to the TP5 because the distance with the irons was impressive. That ball comes out high and long.

So what's your ball for this year? And what others did you test before deciding?

I went with the ProV1 like last year because of the 4 dozen for 3 dozen deal. However, I did find a TP5x in the weeds that I played two full rounds with. I was extremely impressed with it off of drives, irons and short game, and will probably give the TP5 and the TP5x a serious chance once I run out of ProV1's (on pace to lose them a lot quicker this year).

Bridgestone Tour B-RX for me. Best ball I have ever hit.

what do you like about it?

Have been a Pro V1 guy until this year.

Reasons for switching:

Spin off of the driver is extremely low (Has been a problem for me in the past)

Roughly 10 yards longer throughout my bag

Preforms great on scoring shots (100 and in) Plenty of short game spin to drop and stop

Mizuno ST-Z 230 10.5* Mitsubishi Kai'li Blue 60g Stiff

Titleist 917 F2 15* Aldila Rogue Max 75 Stiff

Tommy Armour 845 Max 19* Tensei Blue CK 85 HY Stiff

Ping i20 (4-PW) CFS 110 Stiff

Cleveland CBX Zipcore (52* / 56* / 60*) Dynamic Gold Spinner 115g

Mizuno MCraft V

I have always played Pro V1x or a TM ball but recently have been trying other brands. The Wilson soft duo spin feels pretty good, even around the greens. I picked up 2 dozen Callaway Superhot 3 piece from Costco for $30, gonna try these my next round. Anyone tried this ball?

I like the Duo Soft Spin, performs similar to a gamersoft. The new spin has the Wilson shield and looks great.
