Ping Eye 2 Beryllium becu copper irons brand new if only the 7 iron was there ;-(

Chanced upon a set of Ping eye 2 woods, irons and putter. ZZ LITE shafts throughout original grips, mint, new, unused but....as always there's a catch....7 iron missing! I have sourced the same spec 7 iron and wait its arrival, these will probably go on display in my cave but oh but I wish the original 7 iron was present :-(

Very strange it is yes. Guess we will never know, maybe lost in a house move or snuck into the garden by a kid and used to make a tent! damm shame but there you go, I had a similar occurrence with a set of Becu ISI's a couple of years back. I seem to remember the 6 iron was missing from that set (irons only). They were the same though, never hit, just must have been sat in someone's possession as a display item. I am sure I picked those for less than £80 though so flipped them pretty quick!

I'll never understand the fascination with the Ping Eye2 in general, or the BeCu version in particular, other than nostalgia. I'd game that putter though.

Agree. I think everyone's dad has a set lying around somewhere (including mine), yet somehow the occasional picker gets all excited when they find a set at a garage sale.

I mean, they were a good chopper set of irons 30 years ago, don't get me wrong. But they are no more special than a Bertha iron from the early 90's, or a dozens of other examples.

Woods/Fairways:  Callaway with Mitsubishi shafts

Irons:  Srixon with Dynamic Gold shafts

let me know if you want the seven iron to look like the rest of the set, I can tumble it back to the factory finish and bead blast the groove area.

I have a matched 7 iron coming across to Germany from the States, condition looks very good but I will certainly look into getting it tumbled in Europe to try to get a better match, thanks for the tip.

At one time (do they still?) I thought Ping only had the serial number on one iron, "lose" that iron and stolen sets are easier to sell. Is the 7i the ome with a SN?

Hi the serial numbers are on all the irons in the set. vertically down the shaft means manufactured for the States, horizontally around the shaft means European I believe. If you send the serial number to Ping they respond quite quickly and confirm the original set make up and specs.

Horses for courses I suppose ;-)

there is such thing as a ping eye2 putter. would be great for your man cave set. I have one and its actually a very good putter IMG_2408__02333.1439327790.380.500.jpg?c=2

My OCD would only allow it be new and Becu finish!

I’ve got a buddy I golf with who’s gaming a set of those irons 3-SW. surprised the first time I saw them. Guess I should hit them at some point.

Ping G400 max
Ping G410 5 wood
Ping G410 7 & 9 woods

Titleist T350 irons
54* & 58* Sub70 JB Wedges
PXG Operator H w/ BGT stability tour shaft or  SIK FLO C with LAGP shaft

I love everything about the Eye 2 irons except the sole grind. They dig with my steep swing. Catch one a little fat and the club nearly stops in the tight Bermuda lies of Citrus County FL. I need more radius in a sole grind.

That is a beautiful set, nice find!

I had a set of those that I played in college, 1-LW, best set I ever had. Add a couple of Taylor Made Tour Burners for Driver and 3 wood, plus an Anser putter and you had "the" players set from back in the day. My exact setup for many years.

I still wish that Ping would reintroduce the Eye 2's with updated groves in full sets. It would easily out sell everything on the market today and make a ton of golfers very happy, professional and amateurs alike. One of the best all time designs in golf.

Just a question : You honestly think that if someone hit the i200 (or i25 for that matter) up against an original Eye 2, they would go home with the Eye 2?

I'm a Ping fan all the way. But the reason they won't reintroduce an original Eye 2, is because nobody that tries them would buy them. Your i25's are much more pleasant to hit, in every conceivable way.

I recently hit my dad's Eye 2's, and not only did they have a tendency to dig like crazy, they made a ProV1 feel harsh. And yes, it was center contact. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the higher bounce and radius sole design on newer irons??

Well if the player knew what they were looking for then yes, I think a lot of people would buy them over their current offerings. They feel better.

But I'm sorry to disagree, the Eye2's (+) are a far superior iron then the i25's and yes I play them. Are they the closest in their lineup in my opinion, yes, but they are not better in any way.

Now maybe they way you play with today's newer designs fits your particular game better than Eye2's but most tend to think and wish that Karsten would re-introduce them including myself.
