Seems like Tennis could be a logical transition and it could help your golf game if you come back.

the mechanics of the swing and weight transfer is very similar. I'd say more than baseball or hockey. I'm not quite sure hockey can even be considered a "similar" action. Coming from someone who has played his whole life. The slap shot is the closest thing but still not representative at all in my opinion.

 

Tennis is similar to golf. Problem with tennis is if one is older, it's easy to rip ligaments / tendons.

Had to back off golf years ago due to the birth of a child. Me and my brother decided to start racing RC cars, 10th scale electric both dirt and asphalt. It was amazing fun but uber expensive. Since we have raced something, anything, our entire lives that lead to racing motorcycles off road, Enduro and hair scramble. We had raced motocross as kids so this was a natural evolution. That lasted 2 decades until we had to try something else. We eventually came back to golf. Not sure what will satisfy the need for speed in the future, but at 55 golf might be good enough

I like the rc racing, 8th scale outdoor dirt track is where it is at. I had a rough time at the golf tournament I played recently, as I was exhausted. So I took a break for awhile. Played nine today, and it was a blast.

Here is another vote for rc racing. I race indoor 1/10 touring car and 1/12 onroad during the winter. Do a little rc helicopter flying as well. To be honest, I am not sure which is more expensive, rc or golf.

Used to race RC10 off roads and Tamiya F1 s back in the 80s ( yeah, I'm that old) ... I don't think anybody around here races onroad anymore or I'd do it. I was never that crazy about off-road.

 

Of course, back then you had 6 minute races and the battery packs were dead ... And whoever had the newest, hottest engine won. I'm guessing tech has changed all that.

I am not sure which is more expensive either. I used to race 1/8 scale nitro buggy on outdoor track. Break so many parts it is ridiculous. I have too many hobbies to even think about getting into rc anymore.

R/C jet planes are wild. Saw a guy online with one that hit 462 mph. Insane. I don't know how he controls the plane at that speed. Mine would end up smashing the windshield of a police car.

If you really want to be frustrated, take up flying collective pitch RC helicopters. Expensive, ridiculously difficult... what else could you want?

 

(I fly RC helis and planes and bash RC monster trucks around with my kids.... so many hobbies, so little time...)
