2018 NBA Season

Recommended Posts

I wanted to start a fresh thread so we can discuss the NBA off season for 2018 leading up to the draft, signings and the saga that is Lebron James.

As far as Kwahi goes I think he will end up wherever the spurs get him the best deal. I could see him in Boston, but I don't know who they will trade for him exactly.

I'm guessing they'll be selective. The Spurs are smart and I'm sure they'll get a really good package for him, I don't expect them to take on a bad contract either just to get to the deal done. My guess would be a trade that involves a combination of young players and picks.

An expiring bad contract is not a bad deal as it’s essentially a savings account that can be cashed out.

I would not be surprised if Kawhi doesn’t get traded until the deadline or if it lasts until next summer. Aldridge requested a trade last year and he ended up signing an extension.

If Kawhi is hell bent on La and is vocal about it then the Lakers likely can make the best offer as other teams would not risk a ton of assets for a rental.

We have to remember the Spurs are a very smart team. It's unlikely they will make a dumb move.

They i am sure will listen to offers on Kawhi and make the deal if it's best for them (blue chip prospect and picks so they can re-build). I also would not put it past them to let him play out his contract and leave, if the alternative is 75 cents on the dollar so they can win 46 games every year.

The value in Kawhi leaving for nothing is cap space and bottoming out. Which in themselves do have some value.

I think anything could happen, there's a decent chance Kawhi plays all next year in SA

As a Nuggets fan, things are not looking great. Typical Denver fashion, we will just be good enough to be a team that cannot be overlooked, but not bad enough to get a good draft pick.

The Spurs are not going to trade Kawhi to a team in the west, if they do then I think Pop will retire. My personal conspiracy theory is that Durant and LeBron will both go to the Lakers, and the Warriors will beat them anyways.

Bagley gonna go #2

The draft is dumb. The ringer had their mega draft podcast the other day, and like 9 of the first 10 experts all said Doncic is the best prospect. Other experts seem to agree he's the best prospect. The only Ringer expert who didn't have him #1 was a big Bagley fan but acknowledged Doncic could easily be the best

So of course, he will go third.

By all means, take an old school big man who doesn't defend in a league harder for those guys to play in, or a tweener who also struggles defensively

I like Bagley, he's going to be good. But when people are calling another guy a 6'8 James Harden and he happens to be the most accomplished European prospect ever....maybe take that guy

Am I the only one who thinks Doncic might still go #1? The only person saying Ayton is going #1 is Ayton himself...

Also, with the way the league is evolving it shocking that everyone still wants these bigs at the top of the draft...

And I'm terrified of what my Bucks will do... I've heard they want to move Delly and the pick to move up... but can't imagine anybody biting on that horrible contract.

I think there's too many leaks that guys know what is happening. They've already talked to agents, guys will shut down workouts once they get a promise etc

Everyone is saying Ayton is going #1. He's going to get picked first

Mavs get Doncic. 10 years from now that might be all that matters

Or it could be the pick that nobody remembers.

I think it's going to be boom or bust. Same with Porter

Everyone can be a bust I suppose, but what he's done in Europe at his age, with the intangibles too. The Euroleague is a men's league and highly regarded as the second best basketball league in the world, it's not common for a teenager to be a real leader and MVP. Even good players from Europe were roll players there.

I think everyone in the top 4 will play big minutes in the league. Young and Bamba you start getting a bit more risk I think.

Ayton and Bagley will score in the NBA. The question is whether they will be able to defend at a high enough level. But both guys are elite offensive players in their own way. I think worst case they put up numbers on average teams

Jaren Jackson is a big man who is athletic and can shoot. So he's going to play in the league 10+ years

There's not a lot of true BUSTS anymore in the top 3-4 picks. Anthony Bennett and Jahlil Okafor certainly. Markelle Fultz is TBD. But even guys like Cody Zeller, Kidd Gilchrist, Dion waiters. These guys are good rotation guys in the league.

His highlights look impressive, it will be interesting to see how him and Dennis Smith compliment each other.

The Kings had a top 4 pick this year, so you can count on another bust.

LoL

Thankfully the wolves don't draft that high anymore.

I wonder if Johnny Flynn has a son....hmmmm
