Mexico City Golf

I may have the opportunity to live in Mexico City for a number of months. Can anyone tell me about the golf courses there? Ideally I'd join a club and play quite a bit.

Wow, reviving an 8 year old thread. What are the current options in Mexico City?

Golf is for the very rich, and tourists, in Mexico. Club de golf Chapultepec is where they just played a PGA event. Good luck getting an invite there. There is a course in Bosques de las lomas, also very exclusive. Talk to your employer, they may have connections for business. Other than that you have resort courses in Acapulco, and every other beach destination. There is a resort outside Cuernavaca that had a fun 9 hole track.

 

Acapulco Princess course is good. In Guadalajara there is Club Atlas, I liked that course too.

Heading to Mexico City next week and the wife is giving me a pass to play. On first blush it is somewhat difficult to tell what the options are and what courses are public versus private. Any members at Chapultepec want to tee it up next Friday or Saturday?? Aside from that, there appear to be some clubs that are open to visitors - Club de Golf La Hacienda and Club de Golf Bellavista appear decent. Can anybody speak to these or any other good options in and around Mexico City? Thanks in advance!

On the off chance somebody might check this thought I'd bring this thread up again as my wife wants to go to Mexico City in early December for her birthday and I've got permission to bring the clubs and play a round one day while we are there.

 

Obviously I'd love to get on at Club de Golf Chapultepec but not sure how possible/impossible that is? Will probably be staying at the Four Seasons so any chance that the concierge there might be able to get me on? Will be able to play morning or afternoon and weekday if that might make it easier.

 

If I can't get on there is there anywhere else that is worth lugging the clubs down there for?

the closest public golf to Mexico City is called El Copal; here's the https://www.clubdegolfelcopal.com/. it's a rather unremarkable golf course, but it will at least fill your inch if you really want to play in Mexico City.

it's about a half hour drive north of the wealthy business neighborhood of Polanco.

the course is 9 holes. the quoted greens fee is roughly $53 USD (1000 pesos) on the weekends, a bit cheaper on the weekdays. I believe that that fee covers 18 holes (two 9-hole loops).

most players take caddies, that'll cost you another $20 or so, I believe.

I played there a decade ago.
