Still on look out for Weller 12.....found Antique 107. Worth $90?

Neither of them are worth more than retail. Theyre mid-level bourbons, dont put them on a pedestal.

OWA 107 should be like $22.99 and W12 $29.99

Considering SR retails for $20 I’d say you’re a little low on your retail prices, but I agree with your premise. I HATE the secondary market. If people would refuse to pay the over inflated prices then these liquor store owners couldn’t justify the gouging they have going on. I understand supply and demand, but selling bottles at double and sometimes more than retail is obscene.

I don’t know about them not being worth more than retail, but not that much over retail. They’re solid drinkers, but much like Elmer T Lee...it was great bourbon for the $$$, & that’s what made it great. But $60 & over for Elmer on aftermarket is nuts. There’s much better bourbon out there I’d rather drink for those prices.

Respectfully disagree. They WERE mid level bourbons, but things have changed. Westvleteren 12 WAS a “midlevel” beer brewed by humble monks, but rose to the status of best beer in the world...why? Low supply, high demand, hype, and people finally discovering it. Same could be argued for the Weller bourbons.

Furthermore, it would be a shame if products like bourbon or beer were forever destined to stay in whatever class they were initially introduced. I think it’s cool when products climb the foodchain, so to speak. Worth is subjective, but IMO the Weller bourbons are worth more than current state mins.

Found me a bottle of GT Stagg Antique collection. Debating pulling the trigger. What’s is a good buy for this?

Retail is $89. Secondary is $350 shipped to your door.

IMO I wouldnt pay over $149.99 for any antique collection bottle, unless I was flipping it for something else and I got it 1/4 of secondary price.

Hype doesnt make something better, or make it magically taste better than anything else that was actually traditionally better than it and had a higher price. So you're saying just because Weller is now hyped and 'worth' $99, that it's just as good as something that's $49 or $79 but has no hype yet? Can't agree with that.

I buy 1.75s of Weller 12 and leave it out for guests at parties, mix it with coke, etc. That's the level it's at. Is it good for sipping neat? Of course it is, but there's much better options.

No, that’s not at all what I’m saying. Taste wise, I think Weller makes a better bourbon than many bottles 2x the price. I’ve personally seen Weller 12 win blind tastings against bottles vastly more expensive. I think it has been under valued for too long and people are finally starting to discover how solid it is.

Hype doesn’t change how something tastes, but it drives more people to taste it, therefore more people are discovering how much they enjoy it.

High West Bourye is amazing

Found it at a whiskey bar I'm at, might have to try it.

How was it?

We only stuck around for one drink (and I had already ordered something else) so I missed out.

I’ve always avoided High West or any other MGP bourbon, is it really worth it?

Some of it is. I opened a bottle of Bourye at a party recently and everyone was taking photos of the bottle so they remembered to buy it later.

Anyone had E.H. Taylor 4-grain? I heard they will no longer be making it and found a bottle near me.

It's ok. This is the second year it will be released, and the last. next year will bring a new Eh Taylor special spring release called something different.

it's highly allocated and hard to find, so jump on it for $89 or less. I just got one as well.

lol F that...I wouldnt pay over $99 for any EH Taylor, old or new. Well maybe $199-250 for a Tornado Survivor.

I get all my bottles around me in FL for retail, except my SW dusties obviously.
