Las Vegas Golf Question

Recommended Posts

Flying in and Ubering to a course. I've noticed that Rio Secco and The Revere are pretty close to the airport and strip. Are there other courses that I should consider that is a reasonable Uber ride from the airport and then back to our strip hotel?

What other courses should we consider in the $100 range? We are playing the last week of July, if that matters.

I do not want to play Bali Hai. We are not members of any other course.

Las Vegas National is one of the closest public courses to the strip after Bali Hai. Price is not ridiculous by LV non-resident standards. Old style parkland layout. It's about 3 miles east of the strip.

and site of TW's first professional win.

TPC LV and Badlands (I think may have closed) are not bad drives from the Strip.

If you end up at Revere, don't play Concord. I haven't played Lexington so I can't comment. However a friend and I played Concord in March and it did almost nothing for us.

Would definitely consider TPC LV or even better Reflection Bay. We ubered to Reflection Bay from Planet Hollywood when we went and it was well worth it.

^ Yeah I forgot about Spanish Trails, I would recommend that one. It's now a semi-private club that offers some public times on golfnow with hotdeals well under $100. I played it back in February. Did the Canyon and Lakes nines first, conditions were excellent, pace was fine, numerous holes I found interesting and challenging. By the time I finished the first 18 in the afternoon, the third nine (Sunrise) was wide open and they let me play it for $20 or something, it is more of a parkland style layout on that nine and a bit easier than the other two I thought.

It was maybe 15 minutes from MGM Grand on the south end of the strip.

By pure golf quality, Paiute is probably the best with reasonable pricing. All 3 courses are almost always in pristine condition.

Rhodes Ranch is a good deal and really fun. A very playable course, usually in great shape.

My favorite near the strip is Desert Pines. It's VERY tight, but it's short and really fun. Lots of birdies to be made. Warning, they don't have a grass range, just an awful double decker mat range. Many don't like it because you don't hit driver a lot, lots of 3 woods off the tee for control.

You thought it was tight? Seemed like a fine course to me. Is that the course where the first tee is practically on the practice green? There is a par 3 where you can bet that you'll hit the green. Bet $20 and won $40 in pro shop credit. It's a lot closer to the strip than Pauite.

I’ve played Desert Pines as well. Good little track.

Siena, Chimera, LV National all good options. Only others I would add would be Stallion Mountain or Boulder Creek. Stallion Mountain has some pretty good rates for non residents.

Courses usually overseed in September so it should be in prime conditions. But, can't hurt to check with the pro shop before you book.

I m planning weekend trip to Vegas in early October with my inlaws. Looking for a budget local gem (sub $100). Any suggestion? Siena, Chimera or LV National?

I have been to Rhodes, Revere, Legacy, TPC LV, Reflection Bay, Desert Pines, Rio Sec, Bear's, and Angel Park.

Thanx for the info. I had been to BC years ago. Fun course. How about Arroyo and Highland Falls?

Paiute is on my bucket list but out of my budget area. Too hard for my father-in-law.

Just returned from from Vegas and played Siena and Bears best. Stay away from Siena for now, their fairways got some fungal thing and/or being replaced (given both explanations). We practically had to play lift, clean and place. Bear's Best had plush green fairways and their greens rolled true. Probably my favorite course in Vegas although I haven't played Paiute and heard nothing but good things. BB was 20 min from the strip.

They do some very good deals on golfnow and other last minute booking sites. All 3 courses are very playable if you pick the correct tees. Big open fairways and big greens with very playable rough.

It is one of the best golf experiences in Vegas. Not a house in site, great views down the valley and always in great condition as they have their own water supply so don't have to over-seed.
