Eh. I mean, I would watch, but $10 mil of someone else’s money isn’t why. I’d watch those two play almost anytime, but the talk about the money making them uncomfortable is just for show. It’s not their money.

Can we change the format a little bit so that they can talk smack NBA style, best out of 3, include a game of horse but please not the same old same old dull match play. If Tiger sprays driver or Phil does Phil stuff it's over after 12 holes for either party. :D

There are so many options to do [made for tv] matches...for the top 20 guys, I can't believe it's not happening yet. Imagine every Friday night there is a match of the week...and every winner of the round robin style matches will culminate in a super match on Friday and Saturday night. The matches do not have to be played live...they could be played whenever..just televise on Friday's. In bass fishing they are doing something similar with MLF..Major League Fishing...all filmed and then shown in weekly episodes...best tournament fishing on TV.

I think it would certainly bring in the TV audience. I would like to see it on a course that isn't bomb and gouge, but requires all of a player's shot making skills.

They each get to play by the rules and take whatever penalty is appropriate if they break them.

They mentioned this on PGA Tour Live and the word is TW and Phil will be mic'd up. They were joking that if that was the case it'll have to be shown on HBO.

Haha Sean, it was a bit harsh I guess, but my own game is pretty "Smylie-esque" right now, so I don't care :)

 

The only way Phil would really get into it is if he wagered a lot of his own money, that's what gets him going. Turning it into a big flashy production takes away some of the attraction, for me at least.

I think I have seen Predator 27 times or something like that. Drives my wife crazy when I do the dialogue seconds before every actor delivers his/her lines. :)

This is such a great idea. 15 years ago they would both have exciting games, but they would eventually would be playing for 1 million against the likes of Annika Sorenstam and Se Ri Pak or David Toms. Contrast to now, where there is a lot of love for both Tiger and Phil at the moment, and to see them actually contending head to head against youngsters like YJS or John Rahm would be amazing TV. I suppose what I'm saying is that most people tune in to golf these days to see if the old Tiger and Phil are still there, and whether they still have the juice to hang with the youngsters. To date, neither have really been there on Sunday in the big tournaments. Given that, why not manufacture it?

My suggestion: Make it Pay Per View on HBO and let them swear and talk smack on live TV. Could be the dawn of a new era in golf, or the demise of the PGA tour.

Will be a great spectacle. I'm taking Tiger for his only win of the year. Mickelson's short game has been dreadful (by his usual standards) in the last few rounds I've watched him and without that he's not going to beat Tiger's consistency.
