Tiger vs Phil for $10mil

Recommended Posts

Has to be there own money to really make it interesting. Ill play Tiger for 10 mil if its not my own money...... Or make them use their own money and the loser donates to the winner's charity of choice, they dont need to pad their own accounts anymore. Proceeds from the event pay the charity of the loser so its a charitable win-win, but losing will still cost you personally.

Id rather see TW/Phil vs. Young gun combo in foursome match.

Youd still get to see Phil and TW talk smack to each other, even more since theyd be paired up and ripping each others bad shots. And since they are a team, they could also reminisce, talk about how dumb the usga is, and make fun of other players from this era and yesteryear.

Mic up Spieth and JT or, better yet, Rahm as the other team.

Imagine a Spieth/Rahm team?! That would be hysterical.

After a few holes...

Rahm to Spieth/caddie, "Omg, man, stop talking so much, just hit the @$ ball already!"

Spieth, "you done ranting? Ok, you interrupted us so now we have to start over again"

Rahm kills Spieth on international television.

Ratings bonanza ; )

If it happened organically in the course of a tournament that they ended up going head to head then it would be infinitely more interesting for me.

The thought of them being mic'd up in a made for TV duel and possibly listening to lame trash talk is the part of it that doesn't appeal to me.

This reeks of desperation by a couple of fading superstars

Watching two dudes who I assume are worth 100s of millions each play for someone else's money is not my idea of excitement...like watching Bezos and Zuckerberg play heads up high-limit poker!

For there to be drama, something has to be at stake.

It'd be 1000 times more interesting and draw way higher ratings than Spieth vs Thomas.

Classical greats going to battle has always been a fascinating watch, even though they are past their prime. George Foreman wasn't the best but fought into his 40s because he could draw.

No caddies. Just those two; in carts, wearing shorts, bluetooth speakers, rangefinders, leave the flagstick in, 5' gimmes. Have Phil back in the casinos in a couple hours. Tiger heads over to Top Golf. Everyone's a winner!

Also need a cart girl to stop by about every two holes to check on them and get them refills.....

You just contradicted yourself. Desperation for what? It’s clearly not money as you stated. Fame? I don’t think they need that either.

I agree this would have been much better 15 years ago but this would still be very entertaining. I don’t think either would be ok with losing.

Forget the money. Loser has to caddy for the winner in next year's Par 3 contest at the Masters. Way higher stakes to those two than $10M.

The loser should actually have to stay at the Greenbrier and go falconryinginging.

There are so many options to do [made for tv] matches...for the top 20 guys, I can't believe it's not happening yet. Imagine every Friday night there is a match of the week...and every winner of the round robin style matches will culminate in a super match on Friday and Saturday night. The matches do not have to be played live...they could be played whenever..just televise on Friday's. In bass fishing they are doing something similar with MLF..Major League Fishing...all filmed and then shown in weekly episodes...best tournament fishing on TV.

It's been done already, the old CBS Golf Classic (best ball if I remember right, 2 man teams), and Shell's Wonderful World of Golf (stroke play). There were other, less known programs that other people can remember.

If it is not Tiger/Phil this doesn't fly and frankly I agree with the guy who posted above who said he'd watch if it was their personal money on the line, not a cut from the sponsors, etc. Bring the checkbooks, Debit Card, or cash to hole #1, then it's really game on. Then let's see the cash change hands on the GC after the match.

Stroke or match play? Does TW give Phil one "run after my putt" per side?

Scramble format: TW and Paige S versus Phil and Amanda B.

Time for your nap.

It has to be promoted like a big boxing match or UFC fight. I could draw huge numbers. Hell I would even pay to watch it on PPV.

Weigh in where they stare each other down in their underwear?

I'd pay to NOT see that....

I agree. Watching them play for sponsor's (our) money? $10 mill for a round? It's a bit nauseating to me

And on top of it, they want to own the whole thing so they'll both net buckets of cash, but one of them gets a bucket plus $10 million?

I think it would be a ton of fun to watch them play 18 for their own money, and all the other proceeds from the event go to a charity. Watching how each of them would play and fight with $10 million of their own to lose would be incredible.
