Forged TEC Black - Any Long Run Thoughts?

Got fitted recently and the fitter put me into the Forged TEC Black. The Cobras were not what I was expecting to buy, and I was curious if anyone had thoughts on these irons after playing a few rounds with them before I made a long-term investment.

 

What do people think?

Those Corba's are a really good choice. It's like the equivalent of Titleist AP2's but lower spin.

I just got fitted for them, and have played a couple rounds, very happy with the purchase but gapping on the bottom end may be a challenge.

 

Paired with Modus 3 105 stiff, for reference.

11 hcp and got mine with the $-Taper 125’s and love them. My all time favorite shaft over the Modus 120’s.

Consistent yardage every round and feel as good as any cavity back and can give a good run in that department to a lot of the high end musclebacks. Very soft yet powerful.

Sole is very playable and the finish on these is top notch.

No negatives for my game and no regrets.

I have nothing but high praise for these irons and that is without consideration for the best customer service I have ever experienced.

Great irons from a top rate company.

I've played 3 rounds so far with my one lengths with $-taper shafts. Absolutely loving the clubs so far. Nice soft touch off the face and you get distance even if you slightly mishit. Really loving the 5 iron which is a club I normally struggle with. The Arccos system is pretty cool as well. I've been enjoying diving into all the data after my rounds. It's both humbling and helpful :lol: It also doesn't hurt that personally these are some of the nicest looking clubs I've seen, especially paired with the black $-taper shaft.

I have some Forged Tecs but the black is not my style.

They'll hold their own against any other club in the same class that's out there.

I have them in OL. Amazing feel they are really really great and I’ve played many a set of irons. Keeping these for awhile.

Running into 1 issue after a few rounds. Huge distance gap between P and G. Could be the lofts, but its 25 yards, and quite inconvenient. Anybody else with this issue?

This is my first one length set. I’ve never hit so many shots where I’m looking. I don’t notice the high flight on the short irons I’ve read complaints on so maybe worth a demo for you. The long irons are pretty good in terms of flight. I have the 3 iron and I will say you need some speed for that one. I have the OL F8 hybrids as well and they are just awesome.

I had the exact same issue. While I hit them all a bit shorter, which I didn’t mind, I was struggling to hit the GW 100 yards and I was easily hitting the PW 125. The wedges with no cavity felt dead. I had the SW as well and it didn’t perform that great for me either. I thought about adjusting lofts or going with a mixed bag set but ultimately just bought the VL Forged Tecs. FYI I had the F7 OL

Interestingly, I have an issue with my P and G, but mine is opposite-PW is just over 130 which is a good yardage for me but the AW is 125-weird.

Mine are VL, as well, so I have pulled the AW in favour of my Callaway Forged 50°.

Other than that, I’m very happy.

One thing I would like to try is a OL 5 & 6 iron with the rest of the set.

I’m just so consistent with 7-iron to PW, I’d like to give it a try.

I had a similar issue with the original Forged Tecs... not quite as extreme, but ~15-18 yard gap when the other clubs were a pretty consistent 10-yard gap.

I'm about two months in and they are great. The black finish leading edge is wearing a tad into a dark gray I guess but nothing to worry about.

I almost pulled the trigger on some today. Luckily my local shop sold them last night before I had the chance to buy them today. Whew. These are messing with my head. Love the feel and added distance. Love the all black and black shaft.

Don't try them with the KBS $-Tapers....they feel even better :swoon: :lol:

If they are anything like the Cobra King Forged Tour's that I play..... highly recommend!
