Embarrassing club

Okay, I have relatively newer clubs, not the newest but current. I game mizuno mp54 irons (3-pw), cobra fly z or ping g driver and ping g30 3w. My most consistent club is my darn infomercial left hand 17 degree controller fairway driving iron, steel shaft, I got 18 years ago.

I never mishit it, 235yrd low bullets all day off the tee. I shelf it for years at a time, pick it up and hits like I never left it.

Can't explain it, all other feedback online says the club is trash and hard to hit. Not the longest club, but so accurate for me anyway. Anyone else have a club like this?

Taylormade SIM2 TI 3W 15°(14°) - GD Tour AD DI 6

Hold on, so you’re a righty and your go to club is a lefty driving iron?? Am I missing something, I’m on mobile?

I'm not really all that embarrassed to be honest. Just funny because its an infomercial club. I'm 40, not much embarrasses me at this point.

I have a pink golf bag with pink headcovers and use pink tees. So people make fun of me for that, but I rarely hear them since I outdrive them by so much

I played a Nike Ignite 410 until just a couple years ago and even took it out as late as last year when my R1 would act up.

I also carried a Lynx 2i as my longest club growing up. Even when I had a set of Hogan Apex irons, which replaced my Silver Lynx set I pulled the 2i out of that set and kept it in the bag for years.

Edit - wasn’t embarassed by either though, they both killed the ball.

This thread reminds me of the “come clean” classic thread with the fugly cast Mizuno XP Ping knockoffs.

I would love to own an embarrassing club that I never seem to miss. Especially one that travels 235 yards. Would make the game a whole lot easier.

Cobra F9 14.5*
Cobra 18.5*
Adams Super S Hybrids 22*, 25*
NCW 24*, 28*, 33*, 38*, 43*, 48*, 53*
Mac Custom Grind 58* (NevadaGolfGuy Special)
Bradley, Geom, Machine, Mannkrafted, Ping, Rife, SGC, Scotty, Tad Moore, Xenon

I hit pink SuperSofts. Nobody steals them and easy to find in snow or fall leaves.

Love the pink supersofts. Bought a few dozen just for the hell of it, I liked the supersofts anyways and this thing is so easy to track in the air. It was kind of weird going back to the white ball after I ran out. I am getting another batch of the pink ones once I burn through the hoard of balls I found stashed in the garage from the past few years (found some of the taylormade lethal practice balls if anyone remembers that epic sale/thread lol).

Hell, I’ve got The Perfect Club hybrid I bought at a used golf shop years ago. I didn’t really use it as it was a bit embarrassing to have an infomercial club in my bag. Well lately I’ve been unable to hit my Adams 20* DHY hybrid with any consistency so I put The Perfect Club in the bag and man it is so easy to hit long and high.

At 27 it was embarrassing. Now at 42 I don’t give a s***, I just want whatever works.

Definitely not embarrassed by it but I Game a 64* Callaway Sure Out wedge. Last year sunk two for Eagles from 60-65 yds out. Love the club.

Well it ended up being a 3+ page thread but I use a niblick chipper as a 2.8 handicap lol.

That thing is as close to an automatic greenside up and down as you can get. From a guy who used to be pretty fidgety and wristy around the greens that club has saved my bacon a bunch of times.

Yeah, that thread turned a little awkward.

Ive never been embarrassed by my own clubs, but when i moved to colorado, my wife set up a round with a co workers husband. The guy was a real d-bag, incredibly cocky, and bragged how he could reach the par 5 in 2, which i only saw 2x in 7 years(one of which was by a girl with the last name Lashley)...so we meet at the club and he is bagging something called "great white sharks" that look like a cheese grater. I actually laughed when i saw them thinking it was a joke but dude thought they were the s***(hes from ny so that is probably why)

I wish i could write he then destroyed us and out drove us, blah blah.....but his game was even uglier than the clubs and his incredible ego and condescending attitude toward the cart girls made me want to shank the ball into his nuts

My brother is a handicap golfer who rarely breaks 90. That said, he has been able to just smoke a 2i - even off the deck - since he was about 14 years old. Whenever we play a scramble, we'll be setting in the fairway on a long par 4, about 200 yards out. He will take out that 2i and lay it in there inside 20 feet every time!

(He recently got fitted for Ping G30 irons, but still carries the 2i.)

Moral of the story: If it works - and obeys the rules - go for it! :superman:

I'm not embarrassed at all but I have 3 clubs like it in my bag, the 12.5*, 17*, and 21* Controllers all proudly get played. I get more comments from strangers on how well I can hit them, relatively speaking, of course.
