Best Tour Edge Exotics Fairway Wood Off The Deck?

tjc4golf

Recommended Posts

I have two different bags in two different cities. Yesterday I played with my secondary bag that includes my my old TEE CB1 16.5*.

I love that club off the tee - it's super long, super straight and super consistent - and decided I need a TEE 16.5* fairway wood for my primary bag too.

If the CB1 has any fault it's that it's not quite as easy to hit off the deck as it it to hit off the tee.

I rarely need that much club off the deck but it'd still be nice to have that versatility so I'm wondering which TEE fairway wood(s) perform better off the deck.

CB or XCG or XRail? Any specific model / generation number (e.g. CB4, XCG3, etc)?

Do these off the deck performers retain the legendary off the tee characteristics for which the TEE fairway wood line is known?

I’ve tried the XCG4, XCG5, Xcg6, xcg7, cb4, ex8

, ex9, Trilogy and Xrail.

Off the deck the Trilogy and Xrail were the easiest. The ex9 is pretty easy too.

OP, the reason you mention is the reason I went from the CB1 to the CB2 and it's still my favorite Exotics fairway. As mentioned the Trilogy and X-Rail are great off the deck, I just prefer the Deuce.

The answer to better golf is hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I've had a few and the one from the deck that stands out due to the low low profile was the XCG5. Very thin face. The smaller XCG beta models were also good. I have an XCG7 beta 13º that is pretty much a piece of cake to hit anywhere. The CBs are great off the tee or if your course is fluffy. :) I haven't kept up on the current ones.

Hope that helps you.

I had a cb Pro f2 limited (i think that was the model) and i thought it was super easy to get airborne off the deck. Tiny head but i think it helped give confidence that it wouldn’t get caught up on in the turf.

. I hope so, because I just picked a CB Pro F2 4 wood.Are they deeper-faced than the CB2’s/CB’s??

I had an XCG 4 that I could hit off hardpan. I still kick myself for getting rid of that club. Can't count how many shots I put inside 20ft with it......

I have both an EX10 beta and EX9. The EX10 is a 16.5 degree 4 wood the Ex9 is 15 degrees.

I actually hit the EX10 longer. Both great clubs and not a lot in them both very easy to hit.

EX9 imo for the Money is the best Fw in the market. Probably find one for $70

I also own a cobra f7 which some may argue is a super easy wood. I play that one in 14.5.

I've hit every 3 wood know to mankind & without question the Tour Edge CB2 is the best 3 wood on the planet!!!!!! Off the deck & the tee it is 2nd to none!!!! If this 3 wood is not in your bag you might be at a disadvantage. In the past I had issues with the Aldila NV green shaft but with the CB2 the combination is sweet as pie!!!!!

Very nice club!!!!!

I agree 1000% Best I ever had. New CBX is pretty dang good but CB2 is still A Number 1.

Of all the clubs I have had and sold this was and is still my biggest mistake. :(

TE XRail is the easiest to hit. An Exotics EX9 or EX10 might give you extra yardage.

The EX10 Beta had a taller face. Some people find that the best mix of easy and distance - depends on how you come into the ball.

CB4 or CBX

Anyone going for CBs is a poser. The XCG5 is the all time best fairway period!!! That includes off the tee and the deck.

Pardon me... But I prefer my 3 wood to NOT be the size of a driver from 2003... And actually like it to work more then 5 yards left or right. ?
