Swing Caddie question

I know its not a GPS/Range finder, but figured this was as close as I could find, if I need to remove etc don't hesitate to say so.

 

I picked up a refurbished swing caddie 200 directly from them, upon going through my bag, which I already had a very solid idea of my distances, I mainly bought it to try and dial in short distances with my wedges. I was pretty pleased except for my short irons when I get to my 8 9 and wedges its reading way short, so unless my rangefinder and regular courses are quite off on their distances, either Im doing something wrong or Im assuming something is wrong with it. Just curious before I get into contact with the company if anyone else has had similar issues.

 

just a few numbers... my driver shows around 285 carry, 6 iron around 200 which are both pretty much right on for what I play them at but my 8 which is usually pretty dead on at 170 constantly reads 150ish and my pw which is my 150 flight club constantly reads about 125 and so on with my other three wedges.

 

If anyone has had any experience/solutions I'd appreciate it, otherwise I'll get in contact with SC directly.

Own one to use along with my GC2 when I want to measure swing speed. The Swing Caddie does a very good job at capturing both swing speed and ball speed but understand that carry distances are only calculated based off of club selection. Without capturing launch angle and spin which can vary more in the low irons/wedges carry distances become less reliable.

I kind of was suspecting that especially since I hit my irons high...I guess I may need to look at some other options, it does do a great job with all the longer stuff though

That's too bad. The one area that I would use it is to check my short game, i.e. practice chipping distances. I know my full swing distances. I need practice with short chips.

Spin does play a role in short game distances, but it shouldn't make more than 1/2 a yard on short chips

make sure your lofts are properly set in the machine. I believe the 200 lets you adjust what lofts your irons are.
