Well, seeing as he has played the past few events and is no longer injured I’ll say $0.00. Unless he has some crazy good DI policy that doesn’t kick in unless you just aren’t good anymore

So he says he is retiring for good to sell real estate in Florida.

How much do you think he made from an insurance company to not tee it up again like the style Anthony Kim?

I've followed JPete on Twitter for years ...

1) he's going to work for his father-in-law's commercial real estate business in Fort Worth

2) he also owns a (small) cattle ranch in Texas.... I think Weatherford but I could be mistaken on the location ....he's an avid hunter & thus dual purpose of his farm land so he can hunt deer, feral hogs, etc

3) the insurance stuff you mention is fake news as far as what JPete has shared on Twitter

He's basically had half the year saying that he was going to retire if he didn't make enough money/points. Seemed to love the fact that he was getting his name out there as a result. Having seen some of his antics on Twitter, for me, he is not great loss to the PGA Tour.

I've always said people need to chase their dreams and follow their gut. He was a terrific amateur player, but he's pretty much said he doesn't have a taste for the PGA Tour grind. If he's being genuine, then I can certainly understand not wanting to deal with a very stressful situation involving personal and professional lives colliding. I can't help but say "more power to him" to make the choice to hang it up.

Like another poster said, hopefully he regains his am status and we see him again in a better environment where his potential can really shine through.

A bag of left-handed junk.

Ryan Lavner interviewed him Monday. He sounds like he is going to play in the Web finals. He is #186 in FEC points and if he is inside #200 he can play in them.

Just had a T15 and missed retaining conditional status by .5 FEC points. Made a cool $120k last week; he may find real estate development isn't as lucrative as the Tour if he can build off his form at Greenbrier.

Love some Peterson. He needs to get that Amateur status back and make the Walker Cup. All the while, selling houses and killing monster bucks. A win win for everyone!

no way should a pro with over $2.5 million in career earnings (PGA + Web.com tours) be granted amateur status

Exactly right, hopefully he does make the Walker Cup and prove the rules to regain amateur status are a joke and need rewriting.

Everyone except actual amateurs.

He should go already. Open up a spot for someone who really wants to play tour golf.

I personally don't have an issue with this. Exhaust every opportunity to play and follow your dream. Hey, you never know!

He's actually doing the opposite of exhausting every opportunity. Said he is done playing if he doesn't have PGA status and will not attempt to get back on PGA through Web.com

Having issue with my reply button but to canonlbp430 :

That's actually not true at all. Read the article from Monday. He said he is strongly considering it and goes on to talk about how he would play a limited schedule if he regains his card.

He is considering playing the web finals but not going to play on the web tour next year to try and regain his card.

I have known John since he was in high school. This is a shame. Super talented but has never had any heart to grind. Entitlement syndrome to an extent and now his father in law is handing him a lucrative job.

Side note. John has always been a great guy to me personally and I don't mean the above as a negative shot. Just my take. Most of the guys on tour have some level of entitlement and have come from pretty affluent backgrounds.

Talent without passion is largely wasted. Same goes for intelligence without work ethic

I thought some of the comments this week were strange and line up with this. How he was all business on Sunday, when normally he wouldn't be when he was in that position. How he could compete on tour if he applied himself. He knew his situation at the beginning of the year, and was still half-assing it.
