Awesome! I've mentioned in other posts I've been following Bowditch for a long time. Always pull for him to make the cut. Wondering if he'll play more on the Australian Tour, or Web, or something else next year.

If you play mini touts you can get a hat, ball, shoe, and glove deal from Tileist pretty easily

As most would know he's battled severe depression and other issues most of his adult life so to win on the pga tour was a huge achievement for Bowdo, last 2 years on the course have been terrible with his race to be as bad as Smylie.

You look at his scorecards and shot tracker it's only 3 or 4 poor shots per rounds to eliminate but when you are shall we say 'delicate in the mind it must feel so close but yet a million miles away.

Exactly. At the high end clubs the members demand tour level reads, and if you caddie for the aimpoint express types, you better be on your game since every read will be questioned all day. The subtle breaks that just don’t look it but are known through experience are the toughest ones to convince members and guests on until they hit a good putt and it does what you said are the reason that it would be smart to take a top local caddie out at least in a practice rd. Now if we are talking about the bottom tier caddies that get out with the cheap members and the crappy loops then I agree.

Yeahhh, not really.....gonna go on the defensive here because I'm one of the better caddies at my club (if i do say so myself) and got a loop two weeks ago during the Quicken. I knew the greens better than any other guy out there.

 

Your average pro really doesnt lean that much on his caddie for reads (i know this because i was inside the ropes for 4 days and the communication about the reads etc wasnt on every single hole.)

 

The tour caddie is mostly there for the head game, someone to keep things calm under pressure, confirm what the player wants to do ie aggressive or safe in situations where the player is kind of at a crossroads.

I was there on Tuesday afternoon when Bowditch was playing a practice round, and he and the kid came to the 7th hole, a par 3 measuring roughly 180 from the spot on the tee box where the markers were placed. The kid was using a Bushnell to determine distance to the pin, and when Bowditch asked him the number, he replied with "198". Bowditch kind of playfully teased him, and said "To the trees behind the green?" with a wry smile! I think the kid was having an issue trying to zoom in with the rangefinder, which of course becomes a non-issue for the tournament proper, but I think the inexperience was pretty clear to see. Not sure how much he'll trust him as far as local knowledge on breaks, etc., but will be interesting to follow.
