On #4 you look for your phone and it's not in the cart.

And you need your phone while playing golf because.............

Is it conceivable that you cannot think of a reason why someone would have their phone with them while playing? You really don't understand that ???

dave

Just because you're playing golf doesnt mean the outside world doesn't exist. I set my fantasy lineups, text buddies, text the wife, check scores, stream music, browse Instagram...... theres a lit of time to kill during a round.

Calm down. I always have my phone with me during a round but very rarely use it, thus it would not cause a "you know you're going to have a long day..." kind of response in me if I forgot in for one round. That's all...

I can understand that. But I do believe that in this case FourTops had his cell phone with him earlier in the round. That is certainly how I read it.

Duh, I think you're right. Yeah, if I lost my phone somewhere on the course I would definitely panic. But generally, golf is the one place that is my phone-free zone besides church and the library.

Yes...toss the phone in the cart...bounce around for 3 holes...look for the phone to put on some music, check for texts...and GONE! That's not only a long day, a long 2-3 days if lost.

When you play with social friends (not golfers) and they wait for an invitation to hit EVERY SHOT. They never know when they’re away and you feel like you’re rushing them for 5 straight hours by saying “go ahead” 128 times.

Especially when they hit their first putt and it comes up two feet short and they don’t finish, but leave it and wait their turn again (or another invitation) without marking.

When the guy you’re paired with aims way left on the first hole and towards a water hazard because of his “natural slice”.

You start reading a thread that looks interesting and discover that posters are too dumb to understand the difference between a foursome and a fourball.

Apparently I'm one of the too dumb ones. What is the difference between a foursome and a fourball?

Foursomes is alternate shot, fourball is best ball. At least that’s what it is in the Ryder Cup

Typically a foursome defines a group of four golfers playing together. Although formally it is alternate shot.

Fourball is a specific competition format (think Ryder Cup) where there are two teams of two golfers each. And each golfer plays his own ball (unlike alternate shot) and the winning team on a hole is the team with the member shooting the lowest score. That language (in my experience) is very common in the UK (and is in the Rules of Golf). Less so in the US where (IMHO) there are many decent golfers who really don't know exactly what a fourball is.

dave

ps. Late edit - I guess there is 'foursomes' (alternate shot) and there is the common use of the term foursome. To me 'a foursome' is a group of four golfers (who might be playing foursomes).

Thanks guys. I was maybe (probably) being a bit of a ****** in response to the post calling people dumb when he didn’t use the correct form of the words.

Becasue there is no difference between a foursome and a fourball. Both are a group of four players.

Now if he had said they don’t know the difference between “foursomes”and “fourballs” as formats of play. Although those are commonly misunderstood terms.

I've never understood you guys that play on the weekend, during peak volume hours, and then complain about pace of play. :stop: :swoon:

So if it took 6.5 hours there would be no room to complain? During peak hours I expect the POP to deteriorate but not to that extent. Usually, in my experience, it comes down to poor course management by the management. 5.5 hours and I am complaining unless it is an outing that I am expecting it.

I know, right? When I play golf, I just....play golf. Any time between shots is spent chatting with my buds, mainly trying to needle them and get into their heads, or looking for birds and other critters. No cell phone crap.
