Loving my Mizuno T7's, but I'm the only one I know playing them for some reason...

You're not the only one.

I have 8 - T7 wedges, they are fantastic. I think the replacement is about to drop.

I've tried about everything under the sun as far as wedges go and for me, I always come back to Vokeys. I've holed out and chipped in more with them than any others I've tried and my distance control is always predictable.

That being said, the TaylorMade HiToe has found its way into the bag at my 58* spot. That thing is so versatile and it's like cheating out of the bunker.

Nothing is safe in my bag!

Just got some Cleveland RTX 3.0's, and I must say, they immediately kicked the Mizuno T-5's out of the bag. The v-sole is simply awesome, and is the main reason I wanted these wedges as I already have the Srixon z545 and z945 irons and found out first hand how good that sole works for me. Not gonna be needing new wedges for a while now.

I grabbed up a couple extras just recently. Mizuno is hit or miss with wedge offerings, so I thought I would get 'em while they are good.

I prefer forged wedges. My current GW is a Muira forged wedge (52/10). I have ground the sole a bit. My LW is a Scratch 1018 wedge (58/8).

At the end of the day a perfect wedge is subjective and one we are all in a quest for. For me, after trying A LOT of wedges I found that I prefer soft forged wedges with a squarish face profile and little-to no offset. The LW is outstanding and is a very reliable performer from 85 yards in (full shot length), medium length pitch shots, green side pitch shots, flop shots, short bunker shots and bump and runs. My GW is really good from 115-120 yards (full shots), longer bunker shots, medium length pitch shots (40-60 yards), bump and run shots, chips on the green. For me it's about confidence and I get that from feel, how the club looks to me and performance.

Ive tried...Mizuno S5...W/S PMP...and Callaway MD Forged within the past 2 seasons...the PMP are really the best for money can be had for like 50-60 new...but my favorite have been the MD Forged...very soft (i personally love the grind) and like the stock Tour S200 blue label think it adds a cool look....i may try to stock up over winter in case they switch those up.

Regarding wedges and spin, Tom Wishon had this to say:

"So the bottom line is that the grooves can add a very small amount of spin to the shot, but by far the vast majority of spin comes from the other elements not related to the grooves - clubhead speed, loft, face roughness, angle of attack, balltype, point of impact."

By face roughness he means the area between the grooves. If it is smooth, less spin, if it is roughed up either by the manufacturer or with sand blasting you will get more spin.

So why did the USGA get rid of the square grooves?

I heard a great interview with VJ Singh’s old caddy (Webb Simpson’s current). And he said VJ was the first to catch on what one could do with the grooves , so for 3 seasons he was winning a lot. Then eventually everyone caught on and the USGA put in those rules.

Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth. Just switched to them from the regular Glide 2.0. Great looks, feel and performance. Regular Glide or Glide 2.0 get a lot of love around here as well.

Absolutely LOVE my Stealths, fantastic wedges.

No Edel peeps? Dropped the Vokeys and glides for these. And they are fantastic. More bounce but great grinds. Had an old x forged with square grooves before. Had that for 8 yrs maybe? Good feel, Edels a little different but almost like cheating so easy to hit.

Its really up to what your eye prefers and what bounce works best for you.

When I started playing, I settled on Cleveland and that was that. They arent too pricey. The bounce system is simple. They feel great. And plenty of wins on tour. I love a 2 dot 56* cleveland. +1/2” +1* up. I will continue to buy this exact wedge every three years for life and use it for everything inside 70 yards.

Im a keep it simple guy. I dont like to futz around with stuff. Indefimitely down geek out over the grinds.

I’ve thought about getting an extra set myself, but, I’m still getting very good spin numbers with the set I bought last August. I think these will last me until the next release is being phased out!
